I received an e-mail from someone who has only been with the site for a matter of hours. He/she want's my e-mail address to get to know me better? Has anyone else experienced this? What do I do?
Thanks kmackey32. At least I'm not alone. lol
I had a really attractive female send me a message once, and so I shot back and we talked for a little bit. She gave me her name and I looked her up and found a myspace and everything, so I know she was legitimate. She randomly stopped talking to me though after a while.
Sounds odd. Why would she just stop talking to you? Probably for the better though.
Well she was "interested" in me but I told her that I'm in a committed relationship and she talked to me some more for a week and then just stopped so I guess she wasn't looking for friendship.
That seems kind of starnge for someone to be looking for a date on hubpages. lol.
I also have received a few of these kinds of email. I sent an email to Hubpages staff and reported them, saying I felt uncomfortable with their contact.
Yes, I've received emails similar to those. The purpose it is done is so as to receive your primary email address. It's just a ruse, so they can SPAM you whenever they choose to. Report as SPAM and delete.
HubPages uses a forward messaging system, so people can keep their emails hidden from spammers.
I always have those people trying to send email and get me to talk.
Never reply to them. Felt all these are fake (mostly thou)...
Friend don't give him email address first of know him well .say him that you need time to trust him and know then give the address
However I have not had this happen do not reply!!!
I repeat DO NOT REPLY..
After you reply is when they are able to gain access to your personal email account, then they can sell it off to advertisers who will spam the crap out of you. I only know this having spoke via email to many other high profile writers on here.
When you get the message from HP, it warns you that replying will give away your personal email address.
Read the message if it seems like a legit message feel free to reply. Someone who just wants to get to know you, or talk is just going to sell your email off as they build up their database.
Sounds like Phishing to me. If you are interested in helping someone profit from selling your confirmed contact information then have at it.
Creditors, Telemarketers and Spammers will be contacting you very soon.
Anything other than just deleting is probably not a good idea.
That happened to me just recently. I deleted it, although you can report it as spam or abuse.
Report as spam or abuse. You can do this from within the email message.
Don't give your personal info to anyone. I'm Klara Wieck over here, but in real life my name is Napoleon Dynamite. lol Careful Rich!
Thanks for the advice. How did you know my name was Rich?! &
Napoleon! I love your movie, can I have an autograph? lol
Sorry, but ever since I became famous for my dance moves I stopped giving out autographs to people that don't share my level of coolness
I wish I was as cool as you. I've tried learning the dance moves but I just can't do it. I doubt that even Michael Jackson could've pulled off your moves. lol
When I had only been on here a couple of weeks I answered one of those emails and didn't think to check until after to see how long the other had been on hubpages and how many hubs they had published. Ended up with a whole bunch of spam in my email account. Won't do that again.
Welcome to HubPages, most are legit and extremely helpful - but those who are have established a reputation and have a good track record.
Thanks for the welcome, although I have been here for 9 months now. lol thanks for sharing your experience though. I have flagged the profile so that should be the end of it.
I get these often, k@ri too.
This would be known as "phishing," and most likely it's not with anything but poor intentions.
But, can't blame them...they're just trying to co-exist and gain as much as possible with the least amount of work.
Seems like more work to me, though..
Well I keep on attracting the women! Not that I have a problem with Lesbians, I just prefer men. lol
Don't do it!! Don't answer it == I made that fatal mistake in the beginning and your inbox will be spammed to death!!
(unless you happen to like spam -- and I'm not referring to the tinned meat kind either).
As long as you don't answer, they will not have your personal email. I don't answer, and they slide out of my inbox.
In 23 months I have not had one unsolicited email through hubpages.
I wish I could say the same for other mail accounts though!
I keep getting emails from third-world countries - men wanting a relationship. I figure they think I have money because I appear well-fed. lol
They want you as all smart men do habee! Your blonde hair and cooking would be on the list for sure!
Alas, Ernest, I'm a brunette now! But that hasn't affected my cooking! lol
You are one beautiful lady habee brunette or blonde! Your cooking is legendary. I am still reading your cooking hubs in awe!
Ernest, I'm blushing! Wow - and I thought I didn't have a single blush left in me!
I think you're beautiful, too! I've never told you this, but one day I was on the forums and a friend was looking over my shoulder. She saw your ppic and said, "Who is that? He's hot!"
One of the things I find so attractive in you (other than your physical good looks) is that you are so devoted to your grandkids. A man who loves children so much has to be special!
Thank you habee, I love being with children, they are so important to me and my view for their future.
Your blind friend is very nice to say that I am hot.
best way to know about hubber is through his/her hubs and forums..why does one need to email him/her?

How do you deal with an unpleasant comment posted from outside hubpages?I am in mid flow so to speak with someone who is ignorant, insulting and downright annoying! He won't read the hub properly but insists his country is far superior and I am stupid, basically. Even though its research came from...

Okay this is great! I downloaded it this morning, and it's really working wonderfully. We all know Edweirdo, a very clever and useful hubber who created the HubDefender tool for us all which detects hub-theft and assists in dealing with it. Edweirdo has also written many helpful tutorial hubs on...

Every Friday we volunteers publish a Hub with 1) a fun theme and 2) articles by 18 newer Hubbers for you to read and choose for a vote. ANYONE can vote, not just HubPages members. The 18 articles are split equally this week among these 3 topics (3 different topics each week...

Last week I signed an agreement with Google to help all Hubbers get access to more demand (Advertisers) and to sell on our behalf the new IAB rising star units that have proven to be great brand vehicles for digital advertisers and generally bring significantly higher CPMs.We are starting to test...

I used to be totally addicted to HP, couldn't wait to log on everyday to see what was happening, who and what was popping in the forums, what interesting hub made HOTD, and of course, how my stats and earnings were progressing. I looked forward to the rush I got from clicking "publish"...
