Just a thought but might be nice to chat to other hubbers in real time..or has this been mooted or tried before?

Repeatedly. You can look up infobucket's chatroom, I hangout in there occasionally but like most attempts... it has died off.

That was the LAST attempt. However no one goes there anymore. Most chats end up like that it seems...

Hey Info....drop it would you. It's absurd to think that HP needs to have a chat. You raising this DEAD thread and the one YOU started is ridiculous.

To me, the wonderful thing about communicating via email or on Internet forums like this one is that the communication ISN'T happening in real time... it happens as and when it suits the individual and is therefore non-invasive.  Real time chat rooms don't have much appeal for me, because they tie you down to a specific time just like the telephone does.

I think the same way as you do on this one.  I've never even been to a chat room.   With something like the non-real-time stuff, you can pop on and see what's there when you feel like and have a few spare minutes (or hours  lol ).  It's one thing to "factor into your day" a little bit of something other than "real" work.  It's another to not do your work and be online chatting to the world.   lol

I think HP has enough hassle wandering around the various sub-forums without making them lose even more hair moderating a live chat room.

Honest - some of the fights here would have made your hair curl. Your eyes water. And your sides burst from laughter *nods* smile

Anyway - for my part, I prefer 'chatting' in person, to people I know and love. And I have enough of them to keep me happy. Or chatty.

My current favorite listener appears to be a dog. Hangs on my every word so she does neutral

Man I haven't been in a chat room since I was a kid when AOL first came out.  I didn't know they still existed at all online apart from AIM and things like that.

I just had a chat here on the Forums. As EmpressFelicity said seven months ago, the Forums don't tie you down like a chatroom does. And if the chatting parties are online at once, it hardly feels any different to a chatroom.
