    Hi,

    My profile score is 67 now. It was 78 a week ago. I have published 7 hubs. just don't know why it is falling. Can anyone help?

      Dell,

      I looked at your Hubtivity, and I think the most likely suspect is the last one Website Examiner mentions - "Indiscriminately following many hubbers."  I noticed that you've become a fan of a number of Hubbers very recently.

      Wanting to be involved with Hubpages community by becoming a fan of other Hubbers is laudable.  In my opinion, the best way to go about it so that you don't lower your Author Score is to become a fan of only those Hubbers whose work you really admire - one or two at one time.   After a couple of days, when you find other Hubbers you like, follow them, too.  Follow other Hubbers more gradually (naturally) over weeks and months.

      The Author score is lowered when we attempt to garner an 'instant' fan base by becoming fans to numerous other Hubbers - while counting on the principle of reciprocity to work its magic overnight (so that our "Follower" numbers will be increased quickly).

      There are other ways to be involved in Hubpages community, such as Hub Hopping, posting constructive comments at other Hubbers' hubs, and, of course, by writing more of your own great Hubs (and linking to other hubs within yours).

      Best Wishes,

      Staci

    The usual suspects are:
    - Duplicate content;
    - Overly promotional content;
    - Substandard content;
    - Excessive or deceptive tags;
    - Indiscriminately following many hubbers.

    I suggest that you read up on these issues in the FAQs, then check your hubs to see whether any of them apply to you.

      What then, are the opposite factors that increase your profile score?  I want to get to 75 so I can get dofollow links.

        By writing hubs that are over a certain number of words and having people read and comment. The more people who look at your hubs, the better chance you have at getting a better score.

          Does that mean that low ranking articles will bring it down?

        For future reference, you do have the option to edit forum posts - it works for about 4 hours after you posted.
