Anyone else seeing a big drop in adsense?

I've been slowly making more and more with adsense. Then suddenly yesterday my clicks have been cut in half. Today is doing the same.

Also yesterday is when I noticed new ad content scripts that are being served on Google ads. You can see them if you have a script blocker.

Suddenly you see scripts being blocked and they are coming from the Google ads. I see them everywhere including hubpages, so it's not just my sites.

Anyone else seeing a big drop in adsense clicks starting the other day? hmm

My adsense was going great guns until Wednesday then it tailed off despite my traffic holding up.  I guess this explains why!! Hope it is not a permanent feature

Well, I had a few days where I must of gotten Public Service Announcement ads. I got a bunch of clicks, but barely any counted. I could of made over 10 dollars that day "potentially" if more counted.

As for ctr, this month has been down badly.

Wed and Thurs were my worst adsense days in a long time. My ctr lost over a full point on Wed, and had only recovered half of that on yesterday, still half a point down.

But I don't understand what you're referring to.

Ok let me explain. Google partners with many different ad agencies. Some have thousands of different sponsors they serve ads for.

Google partners with these agencies and serves those ads through their adsense ad blocks. I use a Firefox plugin called noscript in my browser.

It blocks any scripts on any page your on unless you allow it. Once new ad agencies are serving through those adsense ad blocks, I get a new script block alert.

I got that on my own websites so I knew there must be some new script running on my site. That scared the crap outta me first, since I thought I had been hacked.

But now I see it is a new script, several in fact, serving ads from google adsense ad blocks, see?

So that means Google is trying new ad agencies they have partnered with. Yeah it's confusing I know. All I know is, I saw these new ones yesterday, which is when my clicks went down.

I'm wondering if Google is not crediting us for those ads that appear on the ad blocks we have? Or if it's a glitch. I'm sure we will hear more about it soon.

Same thing here.  Adsense is not shaping up to be very good this month.  Statistics from last year show that the same thing happened during Dec. 2009.

Okay Bill, so new ad scripts showing new ads which either aren't performing well or aren't being recorded properly.

Yeh that's not good. We'll see. Thanks for explaining.

Gracenotes- I have a couple of accounts that are more niche-focused and not in a salesy sort of way, and they've dropped like stones.

I think people lose interest in everything else at Christmas time.

I suppose it could be just a coincidence that my clicks are going down on the same day I saw those new ads, but it does not seem likely.

However if those new ads are the reason there are many more people with more smarts than me that have seen that. So it will quickly cause an uproar and it will be fixed soon.

It could just be that people have the holidays on their minds and things will be bad until after Christmas. We will see. hmm

I noticed new ads on my private site over the last week.
Google posted a notice about a change in the ad service, just after they launched the beta platform.

Oddly, the ads appear more targeted, then they were before, which could account for the fluctuations.
On the other hand, my site is food article based, so I haven't seen any major down spikes with the holidays, actually the opposite.

Finally, someone who has seen these new ads besides me! I hope they just need to fine tune them and all will be fine in a day or two. Today is way down than normal. hmm

I think there is something wrong going on with adsense's connection to my HP account. I'm getting more impressions from HP but very few are being recorded at adsense. (I'm talking about impressions and not clicks). I can see some drop from HP earnings as well sad (Rest of the sites are doing fine on impressions and earnings)

About targeted ads - Bollywood artists/tapes ad on my thanksgiving hub doesn't seem to be any way related to me. hmm

My adsense impressions are a bit down compared to a couple of weeks before, and the CTR has remained same - though my CPC and RPM have both shown huge improvements. At this stage, my per day adsense revenue is best ever big_smile

Its more likely to be the low resource script Google has been talking about implementing.

My adsense earnigns are still holding strong, if anything they are continuing their seasonal growth.

Well I'm glad they are doing good for you. Yeah I have some ad blocks that show images, and these new ones have a flash type of look.

They look better to be honest, but they are not too good at targeting what my article is about. Maybe I'm just having a few bad days.

On the brighter side I'm selling leather jackets great! big_smile

My CTR has dropped considerably since the beginning of December. I was expecting a much higher CTR this month since shopping increases in this month. I believe I will see better days next month after Christmas.

Mine has too. Maybe its some of my niches, but compared to previous months, my ctr is quite horrible in comparison. I am making more money, however, if my ctr was normal then I would reach payout again easily. At this point, I have no idea if I am going to or not.
