I have been on hubpages for some time now, not been the most active on forums, not among the big money makers too, but I guess I have the right to complain about something I am not comfortable with.
For the past 2-3 months, a lot of my hubs are going into moderation and I cant really find the fix. All my hubs are original, not a setence has been copy pasted, I do my best to get my spellings right (most of my hubs are writen off my phone,so maybe i can go wrong) and the content is not really crap, specially if you are interested in technology and computers.
The last 5 hubs I have made, all are around 350-600 words each and have decent content, all have gone into moderation. After some editing, again they did not pass and I was asked to review them, no matter what I did, it was just not enough. I mean, I know I am not a good writer, but I have seen far worse hubs here.
I just fail to understand what is going wrong, I would really like to see a feature in which when a hub is rated sub standard, a few lines stating the exact reason as to why the hub was flagged, should be given. The same, almosted automated messgae "you hub was flagged because of insufficient content...." is not very helpful IMO. I think a better system can be made, where at least older members can get a message from the mods.
Hope to find a Fix soon, thanks !

why don't you e mail the team at hub pages and ask for a more detailed response- i am sure that will help you
thanks CASE1WORKER, I did not know I could email them about such issues, I thought its only for technical snags
Will shoot them a mail and get things cleared, thanks !
LOL
I didn't mean me! I'd love to help, but unless you're willing to pay for my time, I really can't. Get in touch with Website Examiner. I'm pretty sure she was gathering up some folks to do this.
oh....my bad...whats the point of a forum when members ask for $$ for help ?
But,thanks, will ask Website Examiner
I didn't know WE was a woman! Guess I never thought about gender in her case. My goats are disappearing at an alarming rate!
I was merely quoting an Elite. Don't shoot the snake..er.. messenger! Now I am confused and another goat bites the dust!
Me too.
About the issue at hand, it is true that I have been trying to get some people involved in proofreading for a very reasonable fee. Currently, there are 4 people offering this kind of service (myself not included). I am happy to help and provide references and introductions.
Concerning finding errors: If substandard is because content is hard to read, as is oftentimes the case, then proofreading is the solution. If it is something else, a moderator could say for sure. A private hub review might pinpoint the error, but it makes sense to ask a moderator first.
Oopsie! Good catch, Randy. Sorry to hear about your goats. Did they get Google slapped too?
Sorry WE!
I checked out your six latest hubs, so I'll give you my 2 cents worth of advice, lol...
If I were looking for the type of item you were writing about, your hubs would be some of the first I'd check out. They are informative and easy to understand, for someone like me who doesn't know ANYTHING about that type of product.
I suppose a couple may be considered a little short, but they seem to supply all the needed info that you'd want if you were shopping for them.
As far as errors...the only thing that stood out to me was the lack of apostrophes in your contractions...cant, wont, that type of word. Also, a couple of very minor spelling errors, but that's it.
I don't know what hubs they moderated, but I really don't see why any of the ones I read would've been flagged...
Anyway-I would email them, like someone already said, and see what they tell you. I've found them very helpful anytime I had a question!
Good luck!
I'm a liberal until things get tough, Then I get harsh. Things have gotten tough here. So anything that is not really working needs to get a lot better. Or it needs to go.
That is the reality of any business.
We all want you to succeed but you need to find the way.
thanks, but generally, my many hubs do ok, around 20-30 views a day, each. I am just asking for a review system that will help us do better....
That's what the Extreme Makeover Forum is all about.
If you've been on the site for over a year and a half, and you've never bothered to learn about all the features to help you, you've no one but yourself to blame if you are having continuous problems making Hubs.
The FAQ plainly says you can and should contact admin for more info if you need more feedback on why a Hub was moderated. There's the whole Learning Center resource which will hold your hand through the entire Hub-making process, and the Makeover forum where you can get specific advice on Hubs from community members for free.
Isn't there a 'hub makeover forum' or some such place? That might be just the thing to get some advice.
Good luck.
thanks a ton TamCor, I will take special care of those apostrophes from now on,also, will try to be a bit less lazy and explain a bit more.
You might also check to make sure that you're using images that you have the right to use - Hubs can be moderated for having obviously watermarked images. Just something to consider.
I flagged this hub http://hubpages.com/hub/ Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-Vs-Olive-Pad earlier because:
1. It was very short
2. It had a watermark in two photographs and
3. It appeared to be written solely to give a forum a backlink.
Now, maybe that last one is unfair... but I think it's not so much the case you are writing bad content, so much as a lot of the hubs you are writing simply don't have enough words in them.
thanks, will fix those issues. The images, even thoigh watermarked, are owned by me, so i never thought that could have been an issue. Will remove them asap. Will give the review more detail and submit again, thanks
i had not gone to the makeover forum as this was happening way too often and i thought i was doing something seriously wrong, i guess it was the watermarked images that gave the wrong impression....
@all: thanks a lot for your help
The Extreme Hub Makeover forum is not so practical for hubs that are held in moderation. But otherwise, the too short hubs, lack of substantial content and so on would probably soon have been spotted there.
I have been writing here for a little over a year and never once been banned, flagged or anything until today. Though I am not sure as to why my hub was flagged it was and I do have my suspicions. All you can do is review, review, review or just delete it and move it to another site maybe.
Mine was not clear either on the reasoning as to why it was flagged nor do I really care as I know it was not a bad hub minus a few errors that I fixed. They say it could have been too personal but then I have seen some way more personal ones including one or two of my own.
Everyone writes with a different passion than the next person, it is what makes what we write unique and ours. However if my hubs continue to get pulled because they are to personal then maybe my time here has come to an end because I do not know how to write any other way.
I know I am not among the best here and probably never will be but I know what I write is good and quality work. All I can say like I said before is just review it as many times as you see it should be and if they are still denying it then maybe it is not good for this site and might fit another site better. No one really knows except you and the mods. The mods are the only ones you can truly get answers from.
Just something to think about.
I took a look at the UPs hubs and many of them are short, and contain little well laid out information.
My advice would be to write more on each hub, and on product reviews maybe do a bulleted list of features.

I find it hilarious that Hubpages pushes the concept of helping new Hubbers yet my Hub which has had very good reception by the community has been flagged for being both overly promotional and substandard.I had 5 social bookmarking links, and 2 other links to free tools absolutely related to the...

Have the moderators ever wrongly flagged one of your hubs? They keep picking on one of my hubs and they took away the advertising. I do not even participate in their ad program. I am not writing for money. I have never even set it up for money. They claimed my title was...

Hey Staff,I'm sorry, but this is a bit sad. The inconsistency with moderation and flagging of hubs is getting ridiculous. Please teach your moderators what is actually provocative. It is unacceptable that a picture that shows a little skin is being flagged by the moderation team.I have a number of...

By means of substandard quality? One of which has almost 700 views on it. These three hubs have been on here for over a year and are now being flagged although they generate comments and daily reads. I don't understand if they were good enough for the last year and a half and now aren't? Please...

The question of whether poetry Hubs should have 400-word minimums came up in this thread a few minutes ago:http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/70203#post1528809I've been puzzling about what to do with poetry Hubs I've found while hopping. I haven't flagged any of them, because poetry is a unique...
