I finally broke down and installed Edweirdo's forum filter. Seems like the politics and religion crap is blasting full tilt around here, even though I sometimes chime in.
Wow, what a difference it makes! Really drives home how much wasted time and hot air people spend in those useless forums. I bet you could power some small cities with that energy!
I'm never going to allow those again and hope I forget they are even here. Thanks Edweirdo!!
Is it? I never noticed. But that's because I use Edweirdo's forum filter.
I'm glad you're enjoying the filter, Bill!
I've been working on it for the last week or so, and I'm constantly turning it on and off as I work on the code.
One day last week I fired up my computer, having forgotten that I'd disabled the filter the day before. Nearly the whole first page of the forum was religious and political threads, and the titles of the threads alone made me cringe.
I come to the forums to see what's going on with HubPages, not to see a bunch of people screaming and ranting at each other. Do any of them actually believe that they're going to change anyone's mind? Has anyone, ever, had their views or beliefs influenced by something they read on a forum?!?! Incredible waste of time...
I don't think I would even bother visiting the forums anymore if I had to look at that stuff everyday!
another Edweirdo convert! It's a wonderful thing, isn't it?
You will forget they are there, and sometimes there will not be many threads showing! Sometimes I may enter (a blocked forum) through the link on the left sidebar and see what's going on, but then I exit. It's always the same stuff.
I haven't been on my home computer much to use it.. I really could do without all the religion topics.

Okay this is great! I downloaded it this morning, and it's really working wonderfully. We all know Edweirdo, a very clever and useful hubber who created the HubDefender tool for us all which detects hub-theft and assists in dealing with it. Edweirdo has also written many helpful tutorial hubs on...

This one is for the users of my Forum Filter add-on for Firefox! As you may know, version 4 of Firefox is coming soon. You may not know that this new version of FF encompasses significant changes behind the scenes, and just about every add-on publisher needs to do some work to ensure that their...

There are a lot of us who haven't been feeling safe on the forums. They've felt stalked, harassed and browbeaten.Sadly, some folks go with the letter of the law, but not the spirit of it in their posts. For an excellent post on why we need Forum Moderators, check out what Makingamark says here...

Who thinks we should ask to reinstate a page dedicated to locating hubbers by hubber score. Beginning with 100-0.We once had such a page here that made the hubber score much more relevant, and we could at least get a chance to locate the top hubbers who most definitely deserved high praise for...

Whenever I open the forums, I see countless threads by the same people, many of them unanswered or with only a couple of comments. I would love to see a limit on how many threads the same person can open daily. I often have to go to page 2 or 3 to see what else people are...

I have noticed that an increasing number of people seem to have joined this site merely to spam religion on the forum. This would be okay if it was not for the fact that this is a forum for writers, not theists.I am all for having a community forum, but I believe it should be a community forum for...
