There used to be an old song with the chorus:
Different things to different people
That's what happiness is
(*International Lyrics-No Copyright date found)
It is kind'a a '70's campfire thang...but I thought it might be a fun and positive thing to join in on. (Maybe someone has done this topic on the forums before?)
Here goes mine:
Happiness is...a cool breeze during a day at the beach.
...catching a big fish on a quiet cove.
...the last stroke of the paint brush when painting your house.
...a huge glass of ice tea on a shady porch.
...putting the last bolt in and having it be the right one while
putting together any type of "easy to assemble" product.
...finding the perfect affordable neighborhood restaurant.
...getting change back after dropping down a twenty dollar bill.
And...laughing at something hilarious when you don't feel good!
And that's what Happiness is!
Wow! Manlypoet, I'm a big fan of yours. Those things that make you happy are so cool.
Here is mine...
***Happiness is waking up in the morning... wow! I'm still alive and healthy to boot. So far so good.
***Happiness is watching my kids grow to adulthood... normal. A big plus!
***Happiness is making people smile and laugh... I love making people laugh.. it's music to my ears.
***Happiness is being in love and being loved in return.
***Happiness is having a rose garden, even just in cyberspace.
***Happiness is being content with what I am and what I have become.. not too bad, if I may say so myself.
***Happiness is earning money writing.. that is a pleasant surprise indeed!
***Happiness is laughing out loud... little things make me laugh. Some people think that's weird.. heck, my kids think I'm weird.
***Happiness is singing and dancing in the rain... nekkid!
Wow. It certainly looks as if it takes a lot to make you happy. I was thinking about a pack of nabs and a Pepsi.
Not really...I was just having fun with it. What are a pack of nabs? Is that anything like a nap attack?
Oh my gosh. You've never heard of nabs? They were the most perfect snack food ever invented. Little cheese crackers with a peanut butter stuffing. Do not be fooled by cheap imitations. Lance is the only way to go. If there were only one food I could take forward with me for the rest of my life, it would have to be nabs. I've eaten them since we moved to the states. That was years ago, but they still taste just as good as the first pack.
HAPPINESS is to love and be loved by that special person. The feeling is pure grace and unique!
Happiness is watching my wife make my grandson smile and watching him make her smile back. Now that is happiness.
Happiness is.... Seeing the sun rise in the morning and the rain falling to cleanse the world of all the debris. Happiness is.....Life
Happiness is having my usual large double double with milk coffee at Tim Hortons.
Happiness is spending time with my daughters and grandkids
Happiness is winning the lottery !!!
ok, I'm shallow... shallow but very rich
Happiness ... to see the eyes of your missing child, well and alive, whom you thought you've lost forever.
Happiness in a pair of slippers, a paisley dressing gown, a bottle of port and a Sherlock Holmes dvd collection, on a winter's night, with snow falling outside and a blazing fire in the grate.
Happiness is getting up in the morning after an eight-hour sleep.
Happiness is rain falling on a tin roof
birds chirping and being enveloped in peaceful sleep!
Happiness is winking at someone, and that someone winks back!

Why do we equate happiness with money?
by Starlet5 9 years ago
Recently, while talking to a friend, she ended a very long and detailed conversation with " i wish i was rich, then i would be happy" then laughed it off. But i started to think... Does money = happiness?I mean on one side you can say of course not. You could easily argue that not...

Can too much money make you unhappy? You hear some awful stories about people who win the lottery or who have lots of money but nothing seems to go right for them. While this may not apply to everyone with money,do you think if you had a lot of money it would make you unhappy?

And if you're not, what would you change to reach the state of happiness you want to be in.I am happy for living my life without any stress, the freedom to choose where I want to go each day, for having found true love and for having learned how to love myself with all the good and all the bad.
