A nine year old gets married according to CNN, and here's a link to said video to prove it:

The young lady did not, it turns out, get "married." She went through a ceremony of friendship in what turns out to be a heartwarming, if not bizare, rite.

I know. I was just reporting it how CNN reported it in the video.  Notice, I never said in my opinion, or stated definitively that she did.  However, you are right. It is a heartwarming ceremony they gave her in the video. smile

I think you're right, a little bizarre, but a truly touching attempt to give as much 'living' to a little girl as they could.

      Evenin’ Mikel,

You may very well be 100% correct but I can’t help but feel that a nine-year-old has no idea about the significance of marriage and the role it plays in life. My instincts suggest to me the whole event was staged for the benefit of her parents and family who were trying to fast-forward her life while they could.

But, what do I know? You still may be right, Mikel.

Up until a couple of decades ago it was a regular occurrence in India.

Am I the only one here that noticed it said in the video that this was all part of the "Make a wish foundation?" Therefore, they were probably just giving her this wedding ceremony to help fulfill her life's dream before she dies.  Of course, I think it's rather sweet, and it's a shame that she'll be passing soon. sad

That was a beautiful and heart wrenching story. Her wish was handled as tastefully as possible, considering the wish.
