The other day I did a little thing about HOTD and how I planned to win it or whatever. That's of no consequence.
It's just that today I see the HOTD features Mother Teresa.
I mean, how the crap can I compete with Mother Teresa? It's so unfair.
Right I'm on it. Who can I top Mother Teresa with?
I had to check out your hub then Google it before it meant anything to me. I don't think we get Snooki in the UK, although I don't watch a lot of, how shall I put this... I won't put it at all.
tbh - I don't think she tops Mrs. T although she's got more going on in some ways.
Saw you had writ Mrs T and thought you had answered yr own question- after all the film is a bit hit!
Hi Case. Maybe she could be my HOTD? Couple of pictures of closed down mines and a sinking Belgrano...
Whoops.
Top any hub with better writing... or maybe Bernadette of Lourdes.
My only question is how much traffic does HOTD actually get?
My most recently published hub is at almost 200 views and it's been published less than 24 hours. LOL!
The highest traffic I got on a newly published hub was 75 in 24 hours.
I wouldn't say that, but I am curious as to what type of traffic the HOTD gets?
Which is why I asked. I was wondering if someone would be able to answer it.
I try and read the Hub of the Day each day because I think I will learn from a Hubber who is so good that they have their work chosen. The one that "got my goat" was one that had photos that were NOT credited. I don't think I'll ever make Hub of the Day.
I made HOTD on my "other" account. It got a boatload of HP traffic, not much else.
Hey Wordscribe, I guess that sort of answers my question indirectly, but did you get over 200+ views the day it was? Or more? I'm just curious. Of course it's not going to make you money and I guess that's the disappointment aspect of it because almost all the traffic is Hubbers.
But, I'd like to know how many views is being talked about? I just published a hub that came out last night and as of tonight it's still rocking over 200+ views.
Let me go back and check... can't remember exactly. BRB.
Okay, not as easy to check as I'd thought because it was a while ago. It was around 200 TOPS per day, I'd say. It continued for a few days, too. It IS my best performing hub on that account, but I don't think it's because it was HOTD. It was doing alright before that... So, HOTD is no big shakes.
I'm not so sure of that, Cagsil. When mine made HOTD, my traffic rose, CPM (HPads) remained pretty stable, and earnings went up as a result. It was up around 10-15% for about a week, which should be significant and not merely coincidental.
I put it down to HPads being mostly impression, not click.
I don't use HP ads... I do MUCH better without them.
I really don't make any money on that HOTD hub, it's just not ever going to be a big earner, though.
Thank you Wilderness. Btw- I take you didn't see my response to you in the other thread? Oh well. I figured you would get a laugh out of it, if you saw it.
I had one recently - it had calmed down from it's initial HP surge but had not gotten anything from google yet. It jumped to about 250 per day when it made HOTD.
Interestingly, as HP traffic died over the next week, google traffic picked up and it was promptly getting around 200+ per day. It has pretty much died since - not unexpected as it was about Xmas. I do have to wonder, though, if making HOTD helped the google traffic.
All very unusual for my hubs. I seldom see 200 per day for any hub.
Mark, try Ronald Mcdonald, more people in the world know him than Mrs T.
Nice one guys - Ronald, Gandhi and the Dalai Lama. Few more for a Big Brother really worth watching.
LOL, that would be a funny series of Big Brother Cags.
LOL Cagsil, I can just see you in the brown habit
Actually I thought it was you who made the original comment, but now see it was Mark, (sorry Mark).
No problem. I was confused at first but just went with it. I thought it might stand for something, an in joke perhaps, and then I'd be showing myself up.
So now you need to write the Hub about this weird day in the life of that particular combination of Big Brother contestants (plus possible a few more well chosen individuals like Stalin and Hitler to spice things up a bit).
What about an article covering the similarities in Mother Theresa, Ghandi, Dalai Lama and Ronald McDonald? That will surely get you HOTD. LOL

If a hub is not featured does that mean that it doesn't get any search engine traffic from Google or other search engines?

How is it that a hub on the 'common mistakes new hubbers make' can suddenly become not featured, in spite of the fact it has had 9 views in a day, 24 views in 7 days and 35 views in the last 30 days? I only replied to comments on it both 42 hours ago and 22 hours ago (from two different hubbers)....

Realize it may be different for each person, but based on the average hubber, I'm wondering how many hits to, say, a fairly decent hub. 100 hits? 200 hits? Some folks may get 0 , others get 10. Yeah, yeah, I know. It's too general a question, but...

I have been struggling with Google traffic and finally out of frustration, I unpublished close to 30 hubs that simply weren't getting traffic. If I leave these unpublished for more than 30 days, will they look new to Google? Would a video help these stagnant hubs?I have lessened the Amazon capsules,...

This might be a complete co-incidence, but I switched to the new profile a couple of days ago, and today Google is pretending it doesn't know me. Hubs that ranked on the first page for main keyword are not found in the first 10 pages. Even more worrying, I can't find them in Google even...

I was sorry to see that this forum thread was closed to comments by HP:http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/78912#topThere was a lot of good information going back and forth there. It may be that some snipe stuff went on between commenters, but the topic is still valid.I'd like to see it continue.
