no shoes or jerky for me, and I'm conveniently located in the middle!  No, that doesn't mean I will host, just have less travel time!  I am wondering how many of us there are.

Randy, everyone knows no one in NC, SC, or Georgia wear shoes, so I think you're safe there. And as far as it being my treat, only if I can pay for dinner with Amazon gift certificates!

Chapin, I think Charleston would be a great place to meet.  I wish there was a way to filter hubbers by location, but if there is, I don't know it.

Well? Can you at least ship me some corn bread? I hear Habee is an expert in the kitchen! wink

DIYweddingplannerposted 12 years agoin reply to this

Hate to break it to ya, Klara, but not every Southerner eats fried chicken and cornbread.  I prefer my chicken grilled and my bread herb-dipped bruschetta!

I know, what am I thinking...right?  I will confess to eating a whole ton of corn muffins and some vegetable soup at Lizard's Thicket the other day at lunch...with some fried okra on the side.  Now that was some fine eatin' there!

Seriously, folks, could we narrow it down to a month and date? Evidently, there are alot of us out there!

I vote for October. I know that's a while away, but that would give everyone time to make plans. Savannah is beautiful in October! River Street is decked out in pumpkins, scarecrows, and chrysanthemums. At least, it was the last time we went at the end of October. The weather is great then, too.

I also suggest we stay at the Hyatt. It's right on River Street, and the back elevator deposits you slap dab on River Street. That means not having to find a parking place on RS - not an easy task. In fact, you can walk to just about anywhere you might want to go and leave your car at the Hyatt.

When we've stayed at the Hyatt, we also found that their restaurant, Windows, had pretty good food that was a lot cheaper than most of the restaurants on RS. I think Windows is open for breakfast and lunch.

      Feedback?

How is the weekend before Halloween for everyone? In Savannah? This is a wonderful time to enjoy Savannah: nice weather, cool decorations, ghost tours, Bonaventure Cemetery, reduced hotel rates, etc.

OMG-cardelean just alerted me about this thread!  I am SO excited and geeked about this!!!!!  Count me in and I will be there.  I just need to know far, far ahead to make my work request in time (has to be in at least 8 weeks before the schedule is out).  Wow!  This is going to be so much fun!   Who wants to room with me????? I really am a fun person to hang out with.

Oh...and are we going to get a conference room to have our meetings in?   Patti, are you the 'coordinator' for this?  We'll start calling you the DIYHubpageslocalmeetupplanner.  smile

I'll check back when I can read the rest of the comments-gotta get ready for work.

Wow, you guys really picked my mood up!  Now I've got something to look forward to.

OK, now I really am gonna have to count weekends if I'm gonna be large and in charge! Hmmm...I have kiddos that weekend, no can do, although it would be an awesome weekend! Do we have an alternative date?

  25. Denise Handlon profile image87
    Denise Handlonposted 12 years ago

What about moving it either back one weekend or forward one w/e AFTER Halloween , like the first w/e in Nov?

My vote is for the earlier one in Oct.   ??   I'm spreading the news...

  26. DIYweddingplanner profile image68
    DIYweddingplannerposted 12 years ago

Well, I'm good either way, but the weekend after is my birthday weekend and that means everyone would have to bring me a present!

Okay, so how about 2 weekends before Halloween? Oct. 13 and 14. How does that work? Wait...that's my grandson's birthday. How about Oct. 6 and 7? If that won't work, I can always leave early Sunday morning on the 14th for Tristan's birthday, but the 6th and 7th would be a lot better for me.

  28. Denise Handlon profile image87
    Denise Handlonposted 12 years ago

October 6 and 7th...hmmmm  isn't that awfully close to Columbus Day?  Which is always on a Monday (Federal Holiday) AND it is my SISTER's birthday that day, whom happens to live in a completely other state than I do...but, still...

    (just kidding)   smile

OKAY, that weekend would work for me, lol   lol   Oh, and that will mean Patti will have to buy her own birthday drinks in November !

    DIYweddingplannerposted 12 years ago

Hey, I'm the boss of this thread and I say we have drinks for my birthday! I think the 13 and 14 works better for me. I have my kids on the 6th and 7th.

I realize there hasn't been any more feedback on this lately but I'm two hours from Savannah {love the Pirate House!!} and would love to join this event. My only commitment is Oct 12-14 where I'll be at a women's retreat in Joplin, MO that weekend and my son's birthday is Oct 30th. Other then that I am free if this is still happening and open for 'registration'.
