What's your experience with referral sign-ups from your hub?

    I'm going through and re-vamping all my online activities. First I created and am fine-tuning my new profile bio. Now I am thinking about going in to each hub and adding my referral tracker for sign-ups at the end of each hub. What has been your experience with this? Have you had a good success rate doing this? It will clutter up my hubs a little at the end but I'm thinking it would be worthwhile.

    What do you think?

      So far I haven't had much activity on referral sign-ups. I used to put a sign-up block in each hub, but I've slacked off doing it because of inactivity. It probably depends a lot on where you are getting your outside traffic. The couple that I've had sign up have not been active members.  On the other hand, it can't hurt to try. smile

    I've had one person sign up a few months ago but they haven't posted anything.

    @Stephanie) I haven't had much action last year from referrals cuz I slacked off too. Prior to that though I got over 30 sign-ups, and a couple of them are actually pretty active. It seems with people looking for money in these tough times it might be worth finding some of those people that would like to write and can understand that it's not a get rich quick scheme but that they can eventually make an a extra income (assuming that they write well and do the right things)

    @Garrett) I think some people sign up because they want to follow us and don't intend to write, ya know? Or maybe they have good intentions of writing but for whatever reason don't start....

    Adding the referral to each hub is time consuming but it is on my list. I will have to make it a priority. Haven't had any activity of late - similar to you when the economy was rough I notice a little bit of activity from my PenPal hub but with no appreciable new hubs.

      I agree Gma but I think the extra time is worth it. I know I am taking my writing a lot more seriously this year and have to gear myself to that learning curve!

    No new signups last six months. It could be because of Panda I guess.

    I don't think it's worth your time.  For ages I put a capsule with a sign up link at the end of every single hub.  Even had a cute pic to draw attention.  In 2 years, I've had almost 50 sign ups, who have written less than 20 hubs, with a handful of views.

    Seems to me the people who have appreciable income from signups are the hubbers that write a lot of "how to hub" hubs, like Lissie, darkside, Mark Knowles, sunforged, etc.  (I signed up under Lissie, and got interested in putting in a referral links after reading darkside.) They are getting people like us who are not giants, but would like to make a modest income from our writing.

    Just do it if you're going into the hub for other modifications.

      I like what you put at the end of your hubs. Simple and to the point. May I copy you?

      @skyfire) Could be.

        Just remember do it as text, not a banner.  Probably want to just do the sign up.  Suggestions for feedback, rate up etc in a banner will be moderated.  In text, only discouraged for now, but may also be moderated later, you never know.  I'm probably going to start deleting that part when I go in for other clean-up.

    I put a link on my profile description, to a Hub about joining Hubpages. I currently have active writers subscribed from my referral. IMHO doing invites on each Hub is overkill.
