What schools should I consider for a Masters in Library Science?
I am looking into a Masters in Library Science degree. What schools should I consider applying to, and why? What are their strenghts?
I have always heard Texas Woman's University has a wonderful program. I believe it is also available with through 'Distant Learning'. I know of a few librarians in my area that have opted for their program and were very pleased with the overall quality. Here is a link - http://www.twu.edu/slis/master-library- … egree.asp.
North Carolina Central University has both MLS and MIS degrees that can be completed totally online or through a combo of online and on-campus classes if you live near Durham. Some of the instructors are quite cutting edge in their use of technology to create virtual classes. The tuition is very affordable, too, which is important in this economy. Do NOT go into debt for a MLS--the demand for librarians is weak and getting weaker, no matter what the ALA says.
