Is there a natural remedy for an ant infestation?

How can you get rid of ants without using strong chemical sprays, or is it even possible?

I've heard cinnamon prevents ants from coming in.  Though it can get a little messy.

That's interesting. I'll give it a try next time. I tried peppermint oil on the advice of a friend once but it didn't seem to work. It took several chemical sprays to get them completely gone.

Diatomaceous Earth is a rock variety that crumbles easily.  It is sold in a powder-like form at garden stores that stock organic materials.  It is very coarse to insects.  When they crawl over it, it scratches them.  These scratches cause the insect to dehydrate, and within 24 hours, they die of dehydration.
