Goes back at least as far as ancient Rome... when Calpernia said to Brutus, "I think Big Julie is sleeping with your wife....."

    Haha! Ackman... nice one!

History of gossip for me goes long back into mythological tales of hinduism... where Lord Narayana fluttered out secrets and rumors wherever he went ( to initiate postive events thoough) and this happens before actual civilization began..... So in a way...

Gossip was always there.... It is... and will always be smile)

In the whaling days of the early and mid-1800s, it was common for the Cap'n's wife to be aboard....and, when two whaling ships met, a "gam" ensued.. with the person last at "home" passing along all the gossip they had....

Goes back to pre-historic times when a cave man pointed to a nearby cave where some mating just took place and looked at his fellow cave man with a wink in his eye: "I think, that is your chick, mate, better you get in and sort that 'daring fellow' out." He had not enough advanced vocabulary to say it at, but he didn't need to, it was obvious:)
