Will the world be better off when it speaks one language? And how will it be better for all of us?
It is my understanding from my life experiences that even those whom speak the same language have difficult times in their articulation from time to time, thus causing misunderstandings and misinterpretations. As this planet hosts the species known as Man it is apparent that misinterpretations and misunderstandings have occurred from time to time for too long.
I believe this question was answered a very long time ago with what happened when man was building the tower of babel. Keep on hubbing
Simply put, no. Overall this would result in a loss of worldly diversity. Granted, I do see benefits with a so called "universal language," it is not a cure-all for the problems you present.
Sometimes certain concepts can best be articulated and described using languages other than English.
