    Why are so many religious people threatened by atheists and/or nontraditional

    I don't really find religious people to be threatened by me or my atheism. I think they're more prone to either trying to convert me or prove me wrong.

      That is a threat of sorts. If they weren't threatened, they would respect your belief and leave you alone.  When people try to convert others, they are actually threatened by the fact that you DARE to have a DIFFERENT belief than theirs.

    I don't feel threatened by other people's beliefs. You have a right to yours and I have a right to mine. Trying to prove an atheist wrong isn't a sign of feeling threatened (at least not always). It's all a part of a free flow of discussion. And if trying to prove someone wrong or trying to convert them (to whatever point of view) a part of feeling threatened couldn't your question be asked the other way around?
