Why do some people who are struggling socioeconomically ENVY those who don't
have to struggle socioeconomically, even considering them to be "spoiled" and "out of touch"?
There are those who see socioeconomic struggle, even poverty as QUITE NOBLE, even character building while decrying those who do not have such struggles as elitist or worse.
The reason why people dealt a bad hand by society envy (not sure that is the right word) those that are doing better is because of the cruel nature of our societies today in which the divide between haves and have nots is increasing every day.
You just have to be surviving on the breadline to understand the difficulty people go through to appreciate why they may not like those that are doing much better than them.
Which is why in the Quran God -I para phrase: "do not compare yourselves to those that are more fortunate than you, but do so to those that are less fortunate than you" this develops your character to be more charitable and to appreciate and be thankful for what you have rather than to be envious of those that have better than you.
As envy leads one to many problems.
