Why is the dark so threatening yet alluringly attractive physically, racially, psychologically,
spiritually, and socioculturally?
This is a complex idea. There are pros and cons here.
The unknown is frequently associated with darkness. So is danger. Movie directors use this fact to great effect. Alluring? Perhaps danger can be, at times. It stirs the blood. For example, a movie without conflict or excitement is deadly boring. Darkness can help heighten such feelings of excitement or conflict.
Spiritually, darkness is associated with ignorance and spiritual blindness. This is not alluring or "attractive." This has been equated with Ego -- the spiritual blindness of separation and selfishness. This is ugly and evil. Some with a psychopathic bent may be attracted to such evil. Whole families have been suborned by such darkness -- Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Warburgs, etc. In the spiritual realm, light and Love are the more exciting traits for these lead to empowerment and perpetual bliss well grounded in reality.
