What is your opinion of the "goal" of all earthly life? Why is that your opinion?

To contribute towards making the world a better place and being remembered for it years, decades, and centuries after your death.

Why should there be a 'goal' ?
I don't see any goal. I enjoy life and that's it. I don't care for any 'goal'
      It's a waste of time ! big_smile

I'm a very selfish person and I love to be that way.
I love myself, I take care of myself, I respect myself.

We have, only, one life to live and enjoy.
            I respect your response.
Ayn Rand, in her philosophy "Objectivism," promotes "selfishness" and I agree with her.

If you love yourself first, then you'll be able to love others. and not indiscriminately. You'll love the people you're sure deserve your love.

I believe it is 'Seasoning'... Flavoring, Developing, Learning, Strengthening our soul, for whatever is next.

      Mikel:
      Why?

      1. Mikel G Roberts profile image75
Mikel G Robertsposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Because I believe -WE ARE NOT HUMAN BEINGS HAVING A SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE...  WE ARE SPIRITUAL BEINGS , HAVING A HUMAN EXPERIENCE.

I believe that the human body is just a cocoon for our true being, the soul. I believe that everything we experience during our human existence is 'seasoning' (flavoring) our souls. The time spent in the human form is necessary to allow the 'seasoning' (strengthening) of our new and weak souls, once our soul is strong enough the cocoon is shed and the soul moves on to whatever is next.
I believe that God decided to use the human body and human lifecycle to 'season' (strengthen and flavor) newly created/born souls (us).

All we can do, you and I, is to agree to disagree..:-)
          Lets see what others think.
Happy New Year..."may you live long and prosper." :-)

Yes, I agree. If we can do that, nothing better. If we strengthen our soul we need not to worry about next. It will surely be better.

My goal is to be the best person I can be.

  9. avangend profile image61
    avangendposted 14 years ago

To fulfill a purpose. From a sheerly biological standpoint, that purpose is reproduction.
Beyond that, it is difficult to say. Our minds long for knowledge of how things work and why - perhaps the "goal" there is knowledge of truth in as pure a form as possible.
