Is a child's self-motivation an innate part of his/her personality? Why? Why not?
Perfectionism and eagerness to please are personality traits, but you can motivate children.
Teaching them to link work to rewards (money, items) can motivate them to work.
Teaching them the costs of NOT acting, by not just giving them things but making them work for it, causes them to work more than they might otherwise if inherently lazy.
