True equality among humans will never exist.  To believe that so is pure fantastical in scope.  Humans are hierarchical by nature.   There will always be someone who is more than you whether it is looks, education, popularity, &/or socioeconomic status.  Also, on that note, there will always be someone who is less than you on the same criteria.   There will always be so-called inequality among humans.   But who are we to state that hierarchies are unequal-they aren't at all.  Humans establish hierarchies based upon the value of a person or people.   That is fact.  Also, the family is the first place where hierarchies are first developed.  Your thoughts?

Yes, just like lobsters. We have half a billion years of biology that favors hierarchies. We don't have to like it, but we have to live with it.

Lovethetrain, do you believe that hierarchies are an inevitable part of the human condition?  Do you further contend that as humans become more evolved in consciousness, hierarchies will be a thing of the past?   Do you maintain that humans will want to erase hierarchies for pure equality?  Or humans want to use hierarchies as false status one-upmanship which masks subconscious insecurity?

I think as physical beings we are doomed to remain in hierarchies. Perhaps when/if we ever transform to higher spiritual beings, we can get over that.

We are barely above animals at this point. And for some things, we are below the animals.

I must agree, GMW, human's beginning of family is where hierarchies began.

If people read the Bible for its message rather than instructions on how to please God, the primary means for keeping the hierarchy, one would see the book implies it began with Adam's conditioning. He became territorial, met a man of the other gender then found themselves ashamed at not knowing how to mate with hair all over their bodies including his foreskin. That shame led to families with boys providing for girls they considered subservient child bearers.

Accordingly, all except the four Aboriginal groups Australia's natives call themselves meaning "originals", who still live environmentally (read Mutant Messenger Down Under), that Noah and his family represents as an example to us how to live to be able to return to environmental living we would have long recognized that to be the case. But when we read the ending of the Bible, the Revelation given to John, and apply the multitude of Metaphors, Allegories, Parables and Symbol-types (MAPS) found throughout the other 64 books we would know it is all intentionally orchestrated to continue eternally. Genesis 1:26-29 reveals man are to replenish earth Revelation 20:4-5 reveals again man are to replenish earth for the Alternative earth (21:1) filled with alternative man (21:4) in a sunless world (21:23).

So yes, the Bible, the Bhagavad Gita in India's religion, Buddhism and several others indicate family is the cause of the hierarchies. It is imbedded in us but we need to find out how to seek within ourselves to find out so as to be one of the 5% to overcome it since we are about 10 years from this world's end.

    Equality = Equal opportunity.

Thank you but is there really equal opportunity?   Are hierarchies results of human unequal categorizations?   What you are proposing is a meritocracy.  After all, equal opportunity is a outgrowth of meritocracy.  Meritocracy in its purest form doesn't exist.  Somehow, humans receive rewards on aspects that aren't fully based on pure meritocracy.   Other, underlying factors influence rewards such as likeability, status, beauty, etc. e.g. a poor child who is a genius won't advance as far socioeconomically as a wealthy child who is average.    Another example is a plain supertalented girl who won't as many opportunities to be an actress than a beautiful girl who has little or no talent.

Yes, GMW, there is an equal opportunity but we don't get to become every stone in the pyramid's in any single lifetime. However many stones are in the pyramid require that many reincarnations to accomplish along with each facet of each stone. I estimate it to be a small 1 billion incarnations with 5% of them making it through civilization's end in Armageddon and another 5% discarnate to reincarnate at this world's end about 184,000 years later.

To loose Equality of Opportunity is the greatest loss we could possibly have.

That would be a great thread: Outcome vs Opportunity

    Exploring all the ways we could loose  O p p o r t u n i t y .

    Socialism is one way.

Socialism ignores the value of equality of opportunity in favor of equality of outcome.
Which is why socialism is a crime and a sin ...
and in America a HUGE taboo.

Not all people want to be the best/ "more than" others. Some are happy with their chosen roles, no matter how humble. Their roles are enough for them. Does that make them less than others?

    ... By   W H A T  standards?

    By  W H O SE  standards?

Most people are OK as long as they are not on the bottom of the food chain.

we don't need as much food as we think.

In fact, food (over eating the wrong foods) is the cause of most medical problems.

                its true!!!!!!

think about diabetes, heart disease, cancer, arthritis, the list goes on and on.

The intestines become congested and the blood stream becomes polluted. Backed up plumbing and an overabundance of saturated fats and chemicals is the cause of all our physical ailments and diseases.

PS We don't need government sponsored health insurance/systems. We need clean, simple diets. Eating better will give everyone greater opportunities.

Again, KLH, I agree we don't government sponsored health, it is designed to make reach the Pharmas as well as insurance. What we need is to learn to eat every type of seed bearing plants or something of it and most, if not all of our health problems would vanish.

But most people are either AT or NEAR THE BOTTOM of the socioeconomic food chain.  They are from 1/2- 1 paycheck away from homelessness.  Think about it.   Most people are at the bottom of the socioeconomic food chain.  They worry about paying their bills.  They worry about putting food on the table.  They would be socioeconomically immobilized if an emergency arises.  They are in KEEP DEEP socioeconomically!

I have $1,005 retirement per month to live on and use about half to help others who don't know how to manage their much larger incomes. I'm most satisfied and was before I obtain the retirement over 5 years ago. Most of my time since October 1976 I was a moneyless nomad and very satisfied with my life. I'm an oportunivor, I eats whatever is available when hungry, little else actually matters to me.

Studies show that the lower socioeconomic people i.e. the lower, working & lower middle class experience more stress than those who are more socioeconomically affluent.

GMW, Those stressing the most are because they have not accepted their lots, those who do are stress free.

There is/was a girl in Louisiana who only had/have the minimum or society's goods but was as satisfied as I am without almost any. People are stressed out when they are dissatisfied with their position.

I've known drunks and other down trodden people who were very satisfied with their lots, openly accepting the minimum of man-made stuff eliminates stress and those are the people politicians can't control nor make to become stressed.
