Is Sarah Jessica Parker judged harshly because she is beautiful

The world sometimes lashes out at people who dare to be different and present a new, interesting type of beauty.  Do you think that peoples' feelings about Sarah Jessica Parker are an example of this?

Where did you manage to get that rare photo of her, allowed out without her pillow slip.

FatFreddysCat, You are not the first guy to say that! LOL!
Honestly I believe more (women) think she is beautiful then men. Since I am not a major fan of hers I can't say I'm aware of her being treated any harsher than most celebrities.

I'm sure she is a lovely person, but beautiful?  No, to me she is rather homely but carries herself well and with confidence--proving that looks are not everything.

Of all the beautiful women in Hollywood you could've used as an example for the question, and you choose her?? :-D

If your going to say stupid things like that you shouldn't show your picture. I'm sure she sleep better at night knowing you won't be pestering her for a date

LOL, I sleep pretty well at night as well. You on the other hand, probably don't, considering you're getting your panties in a bunch for such an inoffensive and tongue-in-cheek comment. You should relax and stop taking things so seriously. Cheers ;-)

"Clara" apparently joined this site today just to defend SJP's honor in this ancient  thread. Which means she's either SJP herself or a crazed fan.

I think there is a big difference between a woman being beautiful and being attractive. Uniqueness stands out. Especially in her profession. Her look is promoted. However, if I saw her in a bar, I'd keep looking. She looks like a foot. I've said this before and meant it. Put a sock over her head.

Sarah is not beautiful in the least.  She may be judged harshly but not because she is beautiful but because she is NOT!   However, there is even an uglier actress than Sarah (Gabourey Sidibe).  This actress is as FAR from the beauty scale as possible.  To say that she is the diametrical opposite of beautiful is an UNDERSTATEMENT!

In fact, she is considered the ugliest actress in Hollywood.  It is quite unfathomable as to why this actress has a career in entertainment given her appearance.  If Ms. Sidibe can be an actress, then ANY woman, regardless of attractiveness/unattractiveness, can be an actress.  Now, Ms. Sidibe is judged quite harshly because of her looks.  Also, she is considered quite laughable in Hollywood, even being told to give up her acting career because she isn't attractive enough!

Is beauty a requisite to be an actress? No. But regardless, I'd rather see a talented "ugly" actress succeeding in Hollywood than an untalented bimbo.

gmwilliamsposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Yes, beauty AND talent.  Gabourey Sidibe is the UGLIEST actress around.  No one wants to look at an ugly actress no matter how talented. Beauty wins, every time. On a scale of 1-10, Ms. Sidibe would be a MINUS 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000!

@Thief12 - thank you for your answer.  Beauty is so specific to a person's nature, and not just skin deep.  I completely agree :-)

@gmwilliams - thank you for your answer.

Hehehe, gmwilliams. You say "nobody wants to look at an ugly actress" and yet I just said I don't mind. You obviously don't know what you're talking about, hehehe. Cheers!

Wow.  I guess this explains why no talent actresses like Megan Fox keep getting parts.  It's because people like yourself would rather watch a talentless girl like her than watch Sidibe, who was only nominated for an Oscar in her very first film fyi.

There are quite a few actresses that aren't that good looking in Hollywood, but that's because not every role requires good looks. Gabourey was cast in a role that required that look that she has (Precious).

Looks might be part of it.  I personally never found Sarah Jessica Parker to be all that attractive to be honest with you.  But then again, I never thought she was ugly either.  To me, she looks OKAY.  She's not exactly the first girl that I would want to go out with, but I wouldn't be all that sad if I did.

Besides, most looks fade over time because of age, as it's inner beauty that really matters. Besides, she's not anywhere near as ugly as Serena Williams, who seems to be glorified sex symbol by ESPN for god knows whatever reason.

Not to sound sexist or anything, but Serena kind of looks like a guy wearing drag if you want me to be honest.  I'm sorry if that sounds sexist or offensive, but that's just me telling you the truth.  I'm sure she's a nice person, and I respect her a lot for what she's done for tennis, and women's sports in general.

I personally don't think she's attractive, and I wouldn't be the least interested in her; even if she showed interest in me.  Whereas Sarah, I don't find her beautiful per say, but I don't think she's that ugly to where I'd be against going out on one date with her if I had to.  And if things did develop between us on this date, then I wouldn't be opposed to it either.

She just wouldn't be my first choice, but hey?  Michael Jordan wasn't the nba's first choice either, but we all know how that turned out in the long run... wink

Thank you for your thoughtful comment, I wholeheartedly agree - Serena Williams is hard to watch and not at all attractive.  Sarah is an enigma, there is something about her, like it or leave it, but it's there.

Oh my God! The ego's of some of you. I'll say it again. I would give anything to see what you look like and who your dating. That women wouldn't give you the time of day.But the good ones did; John Kennedy, and the actor she dated for ten years.

    3. profile image0
Stevennix2001posted 9 years agoin reply to this

Just because she dated John Kennedy it doesn't automatically make her attractive.  All it means is that John Kennedy found her attractive.  Nothing more. Beauty is in the beholder, so not every guy has to agree with John's tastes.

People judge her harshly because they think she's not very beautiful and is marketed to people like she is.  She looks too thin, has a very long face, has squinty eyes. I've only thought she was okay looking in hocus pocus because I think she looks better light blonde and the other two witches were much uglier in comparison so she looked better. I don't dislike her and I think she's an alright actress but I don't know a single person who thinks she's beautiful.

Thank you for commenting, Nicole.  I think now that she is ageing her true physical hideousness is coming to the fore, although she is exceptionally gifted as an actress.

I feel bad for saying such negative comments on her looks honestly. She isn't that bad, and can style herself to be pretty and stylish looking. What she lacks in outer looks she makes up for with personality which is where real beauty lies.

Most celebrities have to step over people and act pretty nasty to get to where they are.  Don't worry about stating your views, dear smile  What you said wasn't negative, it was truthful.

I love Holloween and sewing. To this day I have children that want to be Sarah on Hocus Pocus. I have tried to get them to be Bette Midler or the other one just so I could make a different costume (although I love her and her's the best) just for fun, and they won't have it. It's always Sarah-- they think as I -- she is beautiful. I think any woman that could attract John F Kennedy, and one of the most handsome men in Hollywood (can't think of his name , but they dated ten years, I can't remember how long with John) is not ugly. I have been so shocked to read that there have been tastless articles about her looks. Many thought Charolette was pretty on Sex in the City. I thought she was pretty, but common pretty., nothing outstanding. liked the character she played.- they all play different types ,that was what was appealing about the show.I think it's petty, insecure and most likely unattractice men and women that think she (or pretend to think) she is ugly. I love her long thin face. she has more character and beauty in her face than most in Hollywood. The others all look the same. Pretty, but common pretty. If you put most actresses in a room together that were all blonde or all brunette you would have a hard time telling them apart. How many times have you watched a movie  and kept getting the characters mixed up with the same hair color.I've worked with a lot of men through the years and found that confidant women just intimidate the hell out of men and other women. They feel she (or even more her character on sex in the city) wouldn't give them the time of day so they have to run them down first before they get shot down.

You can't just say people are ugly on the internet when you don't  actually know what they look like in real life. I bet Rachel is way prettier than you. Why can't  people get that their there heads these days.

She proves that how you carry yourself and act are more important than physical aesthetics - perhaps overmuch but worthwhile nonetheless.
