Dr. Strangelove, hands down.
Gosh that's a toughie. I love his films. It would be a tossup between Dr. Strangelove (how can you not LOVE this film?) and 2001. I've always enjoyed his set designs (which enhanced whatever he was attempting to promote) along with the film itself. He was an artist...and unlike Tim Burton (who can only do ONE thing) he could do ANY subject and ANY genre with flair.
So by the look of the answers, I must watch Dr. Strangelove lol...Indeed I still have to watch it. I only watched 2001 from him and wanted to have other people's preferences on him.
I love The Shining. I just love it when Jack Nicholson snaps in that movie.
It is a difficult one because he made so many excellent movies but I think for me it's Paths of Glory which is really heartbreaking.
I'd have to say The Shining. I'll always remember finding it on TV late one night and being totally transfixed

I love scary movies such as The Ring, REC. but my favourite has to be The Grudge. It's a master piece of horror. What's your favourite?
