Favorite is Empire Strikes Back. Imperial Walkers, Asteroids, Darth is Luke's father, Han Knows Leia loves him. A few good things happened. smile
Worst: The Phantom Menace.  A pod race that doesn't end and what may be the worst child actor in the world.

My favorite... A New Hope.  After all, it was the first to be released way back in 1977.  It endeared itself into popular culture and launched the whole Star Wars franchise.  Being the first release, it is the one which is also the easiest to enjoy as a stand alone movie.  There was no pressure to link it to the past or to leave a trail to the future.  One could enjoy it simply as a sci-fi adventure.

Its popularity was such that it prompted Paramount Pictures to get in on the "space" thing against its rival 20th Century Fox by resurrecting the Star Trek franchise starting with Star Trek the Motion Picture.  This of course eventually led to the expansion of the Star Trek franchise itself.

(Wow, Trekkies owe their current incarnation to Star Wars, imagine that)

Anyway, as far as the worst Star Wars movie goes, I agree, the Phantom Menace.  The only redeeming part of that film is the final battle in which Darth Maul kills Qui-Gon and then Obi Wan kills Darth Maul.

OK, as you can see, girls can get their geek on too. LOL

I'm not the big Star Wars fan but a huge movie buff...but I would have to say that it would be a tie between Empire Strikes Back and Revenge of The Sith. Empire because I always liked the battle on Hoth and the showdown between Darth Vader and Luke then finding out that Vader is Luke's dad? What? Crazy. Revenge of The Sith because it ties up the story of Anakin and brings around full circle of why and how Anakin was influenced to the Dark Side. It also reveals how Anakin became Darth Vader and finally seeing how the showdown between Anakin and Obi Wan strained their relationship and how much history they had. I would have to say the worst of the Star Wars Franchise would be as everyone would say...is The Phantom Menace. I think the reason why it's so bad is because Jake Llyod was a bad kid actor. Plus Lucas was behind the camera and I believe that he is better on the sidelines as a writer and producer and not behind the camera as it shows he can't direct actors to perform to their best abilities. It seems like he can only get so-so performances and thinks that they are great takes. Anyways...great question. Hope that J.J. Abrams will gives us a great take on Episode VII as he is one of my favorite film makers today.

I also forgot the annoying Jar Jar Binks as one of reasons why Phantom Menace was awful.
