That's an easy one to answer: "Because of some fowl reason."
I'm not sure this was the only young child who has ever given this answer to this particular question, but one very young child's answer was, "because his mother was over there". Since I heard that answer I just decided that any time I heard/saw this question I'd make it my own answer.
The standard "to get to the other side" may be hilarious to preschoolers, but the answer I mentioned above says so much more, doesn't it...
