George Phillips, an elderly man, from Meridian, Mississippi, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.
He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?"
He said "No," but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me.
Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available."
George said, "Okay."
He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again.
"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot and killed them both, the dogs are eating them right now." and he hung up.
Within five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a Helicopter, two Fire Trucks, a Paramedic, and an Ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence, and caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the Policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you'd shot them!"
George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"
I live next to a Dunkin' Donuts. I always get a quick response when I need a cop.

Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) 500X-RE can be heard 2 miles / 2,000 meters away. At 149 decibels the blasts is not only well past the 120-decibel discomfort mark but also above the 130-decibel threshold for potential hearing loss. And before you blast me with troll bias about how it is not used...

What are your thoughts on the new Illinois law making it a felony to video an arrest? This law went into effect ahead of Chicago's G8 summit - where there tends to be a lot of protests. It also, in my opinion, is a threat to our constitution and freedom. Why should it be a felony to...

What authority does the neighborhood watch have to observe or direct people to do something?Much has been made of the fact that when you call the Police, you're not really talking to a cop and therefore don't have to obey a given directive. Neighborhood Watch members are not sworn officers either,...

Now wait... It's a simple question prompted by a current read J. Edgar Hoover - The Man and The Secrets by Curt Gentry, and it chronicles Hoover's FBI up to his death. It is very cynical, relative to FBI leadership and its unfettered actions. By unfettered I mean wherever Hoover ran into an...

Not that I am in love with Arizona, which is known for it's racist policies concerning Mexican American studies in public schools, as well as racial profiling. However, a gunman who killed one person and wounded 5 others in Mesa Arizona Wednesday morning was apprehended "alive"...

As my stomach turn listening to former NY Mayor, Guiliani blame the President and the current mayor for the deaths of the 2 officers in Bed-Sty, New York City, I had reason to pause. I think for myself and the insinuation that all the people involved in PEACEFUL protests were incited beyond reason...
