I think his character on the show is great! Lots of people identify with it and that is one reason it is so popular.
His personal character is none of my concern as long as he doesn't harm me or mine.
His character on the show is basically a toned down version of him in real life. That's still a good 500% more wild than most people, so I'm not sure if that many can identify with him.
I still can't tell whether or not this is an act. I think he might just be acting out because he's sick of doing this lame TV show and he wants a way out of it. He probably feels that he has a lot to live up to, considering his dad is such a well-respected actor. Charlie Sheen is the star of one of the dumbest TV shows not named Jersey Shore, and he doesn't want that to be his legacy.
What really amazes me is that we care so much about this story. I mean, I love a good story about sleaze and drugs and porn stars, but I didn't realize everyone else does too!
Charlie Sheen is an incredible publicist... for himself. He's probably the most popular lunatic ever. Someone needs to turn him off and get him help! FAST!
He doesn't want help. He wants to be enabled, as is proven by his history. He's working the media for manipulation in his favor, but in the end, the courts will rule against him as they have done with Paris, Lindsay, and others. He's a time bomb. One can only hope he genuinely wants to recover and accept responsibility for his addiction and illness.
For whatever it is worth- you're talking about an actor? Someone who is able to distort perceptions at the tip of a hat. He happens to be very good at it.
Not to mention, there are not many people in the profession of actress/actor, who doesn't distort things, so as to show the people who like them, a different side of themselves, so as to get the public to notice them.
As for his "character"? Well, his "character" is how ever he chooses people to see it.
Don't know him... I don't really like to judge celebrities because truthfully anyone can say whatever they want and get people to believe them... I don't know.
I imagine his website is having no trouble with traffic or Google search engines.
he may be a sly fox and making mucho bucks from all the attention ,and the admiration of men all over the world because of his lifestyle.
....or he may be on a downward spiral ,denying he is a junkie, plummeting to his end..
when his own father and brother stated in an interview, that they planned his funeral a few years ago,so I think they may know something.
it's so hard to tell with so much hype today.
He's not sending a good message for young people, that's for sure.
I read all your replies.
His Dad's a pretty square shooter. Made alota $ and kept his profile low. I think he sees sumthin' we don't ...yet.
Of course Charlie is an actor not hurting for money or fame.
This kind of "celebrity" usually adds to the celebs coffers.
I watched his interview on TV...boring and it seems that he considers himself to be perfect and invincible.
Is he the jerk? Or are we?...for being so damned gullible.
The kinds of people we Americans seem to be attracted to is apparent by the kinds of "arseh*les" we vote into office.
Holistically speaking, we are not too bright.
Example: the financial hole we're trying to dig out of.
Whose fault is it? "We The People" who are so easily led by the Charlie Sheen types whose monster egos have overblown their selfworth....and of course Our addiction to "oil."
Of course this is just my opinion...:
I think he is great at saying his feelings without thinking first.
His personal reality experience should not be confused with reality. And, he needs to be the first one made aware of this.
Imagine if the person saying and doing what Charlie Sheen is saying and doing was your son, your husband, your employee or your friend.
Imagine this person was not a celebrity. He did not come from a famous family. He didn't have a funny character/persona on Two and a Half Men.
What would you think of that person?
Would you see that person as funny? Entertaining? One-of-a-kind
Or would you see him as irresponsible? Pathetic? Sick?
Would you overlook the fact that he beats his wives and is legally prohibited from seeing his own kids? That he publicly hangs around with prostitutes -- because that's just who he is?
Would you agree with his employer that he needed to be fired? Or would you agree with him, that he deserves his job back AND a raise?
Without the celebrity, Charlie Sheen is just another addict. EVERYTHING he is doing and saying is classic addict behavior. Textbook addict behavior.
There are millions of Charlies all around us, shooting their mouths off, destroying everything and everyone in their path as they spiral down to inevitable death.
The only difference is they're not celebrities. But Charlie Sheen is a celebrity. And for whatever reason, we put our celebrities in a special class.
So Charlie will soon join the ranks of Jim Morrison, Marilyn Monroe, Ernest Hemingway, Hunter S. Thompson, Sid & Nancy -- the list is long and illustrious.
It's painful to watch. But at the same time, funny as well. And so we laugh. We tolerate. We applaud. Until he's gone. And what will we think then?
I'll think he's just another poor schmoe that couldn't control himself. He is an adult and makes his own choices. He has to face the consquences of those choices. If I thought anything I say would help, I would say it, but if he won't listen to his own family, I'm pretty sure nothing I say will make a difference.
I think what he is doing to himself is sad, but it's none of my business as long as it doesn't affect me or mine.
It is sad.
It must be gut-wrenching for his family.
But they understand the nature of Charlie's illness.
As they said, they've had his funeral prepared for years.
It's Charlies right to refuse treatment. He's free to live and die the way he chooses.
And it could be worse.
At least he is not in control of a military!!!
As an actor he's good, one of my FAVORITES but about his PRIVATE LIFE-I'm not interested. He is a man after all. And I don't care what PAPARAZZI wrote about him because they wanna make money on other people's misery.
Very true, but Charlie could be just as good.
Not getting sober is also a control thing for Charlie. When your very public, very successful father is sober and urging you to get sober, too, you're gonna either "get it" and get into recovery, or you're gonna fight it. Charlie Sheen is fighting it with everything he's got...
apparently some people don't mind the title and wear it well.
I've never been a fan of any kind of jerk; there's something that screams, 'I'm pathetic, look at me.' no, I would rather not.
I really don't care.. have never watched his show..
I understand what all the fuss is about as far as Sheen needing to straighten out his life, but I don't understand what all the fuss is about concerning his fame......'cause I don't think he's a very good actor at all! Should be easily replaceable by someone more handsome and talented....and how hard can it be the play the role of the jerk he plays? The only question is---did he become like his tv character, or was his tv character simply based on him? Because they're both jerks....
Charlie is a desperate addict. That's all. He's very, very sick. Notice how desperate he is with all his media comments and attention.
On the whole, addicts are jerks, it's true. They are in denial of their illness and they treat others terribly to get what they want. He can admit he's used drugs (past tense) but cannot admit that he is an addict (present tense). Denial.
I feel sorry for his dad, Martin. He just released a PSA about mental illness. Coincidence? I think not. He realizes how sick his son is.
All this nonsense about the ruckus of him getting his kids back is just pathetic. What part of competent parenting did he EVER possess, much less feel victimized because he IS an addict and shouldn't have children (or adults) in his house to expose them to his self destructive, manipulative life style.
The Charlie Show will doubtless go on as is has for Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Brittney Spears, Mel Gibson and others, until the public finally gets sick of them.
Note that Robert Downey Jr., has proved that you can overcome addiction and terrible life choices to become a stand-up kinda guy. Good for him. We can only hope that others can follow his path in making better choices.
He has made it quite clear that he does NOT want to recover. He says sobriety is "boring" (a common complaint among alcoholic/addicts who are hooked on the drama that comes with being active in their disease).
There are many, many examples of celebrities who have chosen to put the drugs/booze down and their careers are the better for it.
Charlie's dad is just one example....
Charlie Sheen has been fired from Two and a Half Men. His shot back is the link below: http://tv.yahoo.com/two-and-a-half-men/ … ashamed?nc
Who's got money they want to wager on how soon he gets a movie or a new TV show?
I actually wrote a hub about this entire Charlie Sheen business lately. To sum up: I think he's scum, and I'm slightly appalled at how quickly people have forgotten some of the truly sickening things he's done to the people he claimed to love.

CBS just pulled the plug on Two and a Half Men because Charlie Sheen, while he's on vacation in Mexico with two porn stars, rants at one of his producers during a radio show. He's caused all the people on production to miss out on several weeks of wages due to his rant. He's made a...

In recent news, Ashton Kutcher was just cast to officially replace Charlie Sheen on "Two and a half Men." There's no word yet, as to the new character that Ashton will be playing, or if he'll simply be playing the same part that Sheen had. but one thing is for sure, I don't...

Anyone following my hubs lately is probably aware that I really don't like Charlie Sheen. I'll spare you a lecture but to sum up, I think the man is a tasteless, misogynist, violent maggot and while I'm not surprised that he's getting so much publicity and attention for it, I'm saddened that people...

How do you feel about Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen on "Two and a Half Men"?
by NateSean 11 years ago
There's been an influx of hubs related to or mentioning the recent developments with Charlie Sheen.Come on. Half of you are saying you hate the guy, another half of you are basically just rewording stuff that's all ready been said about him.I freely admit that I'm doing the exact same thing in some...
