Have you been a fan of her? liked her? disliked her? Views?
Sorry, but... Who 's Elizabeth Taylor?
I wanna say, "you google it, just a little bit".
Welcome to HP BTW!
don't think I've seen any of her films.
Have read she had violet eyes, lived with chronic illness & pain & went through several husbands. Was also a friend to Michael Jackson
Cool? Get Off the Ice Berg Mate - She Was Really HOT!
I was so envious of that snake that bit her in Cleopatra
RIP - ET
She was a beautiful woman and a great actress. But she was married a gazillion times and succumbed to many relationships, as beautiful women sometimes do. But she was like a part of our lives as boomers.
Not particularly a fan, but she seemed like a wonderfully, kindhearted person. I remember to stood with Aids victims, long before it was acceptable. She hung in there a good while in spite of all her ailments. Her presence will be missed.
i just saw this on the news...i hope she finds peace and rest.
a lovely lady.
RIP, My favorite was Taming of the Shrew with her and Richard Burton. Many others that I liked as well.
She was at one time considered the most beautiful woman in the world. That was why I wrote a hub about her!
I think the two greatest compliments I ever received was in my youth being told that I looked like Sophia Loren and on a bus in San Diego about 6 years ago being told I looked like Elizabeth Taylor in her youth.
<snipped link>
Do you remember the person who gave that compliment?
It was an older lady, about 50 or 60 years old. She was staring at me and couldn't take her eyes off me. Eventually, I looked at her and she said, "You look just like Elizabeth Taylor. Not as she is now. But like she was when she was younger."
Apart from during my youth being told that I bore a likeness to Sophia Loren, I can honestly say that it was one of the greatest compliments I've ever been paid. One doesn't forget something like that!
Oh, yes, and I was 54 at the time, so it really, really was a compliment!!!!
May she rest in peace.
NYTimes has a nice tribute.

she had a great life and was a good actress!! she'll surly be missed!
Such a beauty is a pray to many greedy eyes. I admired and envied her beauty. "Cat on a hot tin roof."I think she is in her best beauty there.
She was gorgeous and a good actress. I loved her in Giant. Great movie.
Not a fan, but a beautiful and talented woman. Only not a fan because I was never exposed to much of her actual work. But, I'll tell you I've always found her beautiful and she's done a great deal of really respectable work.
Oddly, just last night I saw her in a re-run of The Nanny sitcom and thought how awesome that she was still with us. Then we woke up to the news.
National Velvet was my favorite film.
Her beauty, talent, and grace grew through all the years.
My favourite is 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf'.
You know, she was only 79. And all through her career, she kept that little girl quality in her speaking voice, although not necessarily in her dramatic roles. I guess I'll always hear that soft voice in my head (as I first heard it in National Velvet), but there's no questioning her ability to change it as she did in Virginia Woolf and Cleopatra, just for two examples.
What an extraordinary woman.
Fan or not you gotta admire her work. And her violet eyes..RIP
I wonder if she will be burried next to Michael Jackson..when he passed away she said she would like that..
Big time fan here... she was amazing, and a great, great lady. I've seen all her big screen movies, her TV movies, and even watched her soap opera appearances. I'm totally bummed.
So very sad. Yes, a beautiful woman with a tragic life. Her portrayal of Cleopatra was amazing. I never saw National Velvet but oh the photos. And her romantic relationship were more astonishing than the movies - here extensive jewelry....
My Mother spoke very highly of her. I didn't really know much until I researched the Barbie doll and her bathing suits.
In addition to her beauty, there is a genuine sweetness or glow. Of course, her violet eyes were stunning not to mention her tiny waist.
I wish I had a Barbie doll of Cleopatra. History - wonderful, wonderful history. Thank you for keeping us inform. I didn't know.
I also loved her in Cleopatra, she was so believable as an actress! National Velvet was one of my favorites.
Now she is at rest.

I'm so sad to hear about Elizabeth Taylor's passing. I am a fan. She is a legend. Her beauty has yet to be surpassed by the many Hollywood stars in our generation. She will definitely be missed.
Truly a queen in the real world as well as the film world. No one else could have so eloquently marketed White Diamonds and intense romance. A real class act. She will be missed. RIP.
A hollywood legend.. My mom really loved her work. After I heard today's news, all I could do was think of my mom. How I wanted to just pick up the phone and talk to her about it. Unfortunately my mom passed away last summer.
Today's news was sad for me.

I was just on my Facebook page and saw that they have started a RIP Gary Coleman page. I had seen the news earlier that he was in a coma. It appears the family decided to disconnect the life support. He passed a few hours ago.Just thought I'd let you know, in case you missed...

"You just do it. You force yourself to get up. You force yourself to put one foot in front of the other, and God dam it, you refuse to let it get to you. You fight. You cry. You curse. Then you go about the business of living. That's how I've done it. There's no other way."— Elizabeth...
