Thanks evry1 for sharing such informations...Bt i always preferred Satriani
You folks need to broaden your horizons a bit...There is a lot more to guitar playing than rock...Carlos Montoya is magical with his improv Flamenco, and Anthony Wilson is sheer genius doing his jazz licks with Diana Krall...
Frank Zappa was way better than Satriani. In fact, Frank's son Dweezil was way better than Satriani when he was 12.
Pete Townsend of the Who, at least if you believe Eric Clapton.
You'd have to choose a style. Satriani's talented, but he's certainly not the best guitarrist in any given category.
For sheer talent, versatility, etc... there's at least a dozen guys I can think of that smoke Satriani.
Saw Tommy Emmanuel recently keep a packed house on the edge of their seats for 3 hours straight. Just one old guy and an acoustic... and HOURS of standing ovations. If Satriani lived to be 300, I doubt he'd ever reach that level of creativity and mastery.
angus with 1 arm is better then the zappa family and joe satriani!!!! Flea and Srv arent bad either!
Leo Kottke is recognised as one if the best.
"Chewing Pine" was a masterpiece of innovative in my opinion.
I'm going to be a pain on this one and say the best guitarist is likely someone none of us have ever heard of.
Yngwie Malmsteen or Al DiMeola depending on what kind of music you like.
Dime rules! Of course so do a lot of others... but Dime Bag was the Fk'n man!
Personally, I gave up a long time ago on the, "Who's the best guitarist", stuff... a lot of differing styles, a lot of great musicians out there.
Just sucks old Dime took one to the head... sad day in America.
