      You folks need to broaden your horizons a bit...There is a lot more to guitar playing than rock...Carlos Montoya is magical with his improv Flamenco, and Anthony Wilson is sheer genius doing his jazz licks with Diana Krall...

   Frank Zappa was way better than Satriani. In fact, Frank's son Dweezil was way better than Satriani when he was 12.

   You'd have to choose a style.  Satriani's talented, but he's certainly not the best guitarrist in any given category.
   
   For sheer talent, versatility, etc... there's at least a dozen guys I can think of that smoke Satriani.
   
   Saw Tommy Emmanuel recently keep a packed house on the edge of their seats for 3 hours straight.  Just one old guy and an acoustic... and HOURS of standing ovations.  If Satriani lived to be 300, I doubt he'd ever reach that level of creativity and mastery.
