I think that's all a matter of opinion. Some will say they regret not having more children and some will say they are glad they didn't have more children. They will have various reasons why. Some will say they are content with the ones they have no matter how many.

My ex-husband's grandparents have had the misfortune of having to bury one of their six children and one grandchild.  When we came up unexpectedly pregnant with our fourth child and were catching some flack for it from the family, they stood in front of everybody at the grandson's funeral and told everyone that they should all be as lucky as we were to have so many children.  Their theory was that even though the loss of that one will always hurt, at least there will be others to help us heal.  I pray that we never outlive any of our children or theirs but I take comfort in their philosophy.
