    Rash knowledge...

My son had some small flesh toned raised dry bumps on his hands and feet. I gave him a Benedryl, lotioned him up and sent him to bed. The next morning the bumps were everywhere. Went to the pediatrician they said they didn't know the cause but that it wasn't contagious and he could go to school. It has been a week and no improvement. They are scabbing up probably due to him scratching them. How long should I wait until I bring him back if there is no improvement? Any treatment suggestions?

My son did this once and it turned out to be a food allergy. I wouldn't let this go for too long. Watch for other symptoms. There are many causes for rashes and some are a manifestation of immune disorders, diabetes and others. However, I wouldn't worry about any of those unless it was confirmed.

Why don't you try calling the doctor that he saw. Sometimes they'll prescribe something over the phone or tell you it is time to come back in. Cortisone cream might work better.
