Would you use the same styles of parenting your parents used on you to parent your own kids?
Why or Why not?
My parents spanked the boys with a belt a few times.
My parents spanked me with bare hands a few times.
My parents would sit us down and talk.
They never abused us in any other way...
I could not spank my children, mostly because it was a tender social issue at the time.
As parents, we used time out.
As Parents, we took privilages away.
As Parents, we sat and talked....and talked again.
Well yes when i will have kids i would definitely use the same parenting style, because firstly i have been groomed very well by my mother and secondly intentionally or unintentionally the kids always have all the habits of parents in their mind and that always reflects in you. It would be a different to some extent depending on the kid's nature and the new lifestyle.
I deliberately try to do many things differently to my own parents. The things I remember that caused me grief, I avoid like the plague.
Having said that, the things I remember fondly are certainly part of my parenting style.
