What are the correlations between overprotective parents and underachieving children?
The link here would seem to be that despite attempts to protect our children from harm and therefore wrap them in bubblewrap as your picture suggests we only prevent them from experiencing life. Life is not all good and if it were we would not learn. It is only through hardship, tragedy, difficulties etc that our lives are truly enriched and we see just how strong and wonderful we can be. A protected child or young adult will be afraid to strive, lack confidence and self esteem and never find their true capabilities. Great thought provoking question gmwilliams.
I found this link interesting as well. http://lobotomiseme.wordpress.com/2013/ … bble-wrap/
Excellent and insightful answer Christine.Overprotective parents cripple their children psychologically in addition to destroying their initiative. If a parent constantly does EVERYTHING for his/her child,s/he will lose incentive to do for self.
