If you are the oldest child of a large and very large family(6 or more children per household),
as a child and teenager, did you have an individual, separate life with outside friends/ activities/interests or were you always home, raising your siblings?
I am the eldest of six children and yes I helped my parents with my younger siblings specially when my mother died. My sister was only 3 years old at the time, I had to sacrifice my midwifery work because of it but I had no choice at the time. I did not have any leisure time at all because my father was working in the mines I had to help him by looking after my siblings and a grandfather who was blind as well. I just did what I had to do because I love my family even it meant I had to lose my midwifery work prospect. My only regret was not practicing my midwifery course but my family comes first.
