I found an incredible gelateria in barcelona, their tiramsu icecream is the best!
Ya I haven't been to Mackinac in years, when I was a kid, we stayed near Traverse City one summer, My step dad was a music teacher and in summer he played music gigs in a band up there when school was out, we went to Mackinac and I remember to this day how amazing the fudge and stuff is there. I think I was about 12 or 13.. I went back once a few years later but I can only imagine what it is like these days (20 years later)
Cherry Butter is another Michigan thing that is great.
I've lived in the South West and North West here in the States. I've spent plenty of time in Mexico and Canada but never been to Europe. For me the best by far (sorry blue bell lovers) is Tillamook Ice Cream. Hard to find outside the Northwest but definitely better than Blue Bell and Blue Bell is better than most other store brands. Blue Bell is certainly better traveled. I was in a small fishing village this winter in South West Mexico and bought some ice cream. The little ice cream stand had those big round tubs so I asked if I could see the brand..... Blue Bell
You've just got to get some Tillamook and decide for yourself. I suggest the mud slide. Their cheese is all over the country but when I lived in the South the ice cream was not down there. That's where I learned to settle for Blue Bell as my second favorite. I did a not so blind taste test with some of my employees who of course may have felt pressured but all agreed that Tillamook was creamier and smoother.
ted drews in saint louis - its frozen custard but i think that pretty much counts
Hartzlers dairy, Wooster Ohio
the milk is produced there, the ice cream produced there, and they still sell it to stores, all natural, in the glass bottles to be returned for deposit like they did in the olden days
Reputably ice cream was invented in Venice using ice from the Dolomites, not sure if this is true- but for amazing ice cream Venice has got to be the best,in Europe at least. The quality and range of flavours is outstanding.
New Zealand has the creamiest ,dreamiest ice-cream.
Dripping with that wonderful hmmm, mmm can I have another lick !
Something to do whith happy no hormone fed cows
Moo licious
Boston, Massachusetts!
Wheeler's Black Label VEGAN ice cream is THE BEST!
If you visit Parkgate, Wirral, then do treat yourself by sampling the gorgeous hand-made ice-cream from the original little shop there, which faces the marshes along the River Dee. Now that truly is the most delicious ice-cream I've ever tasted!
Cornwall, from any small shop making it - no fancy flavours just the best real cream ice cream there is - and fattening as hell
The best ice cream in the world - hmmm it depends on what you're looking for. If you want rich, creamy vanilla - you gotta go to Bremen, Germany to the Freimarkt which is their "Oktoberfest". It's the only place you can get it. It's like whipped cream, creamy and delicious - they use a big wooden paddle to put it in a waffle cone. Never found anything like it anywhere else.
If on the other hand you like fruity - Spain is a great choice. They have an awesome ice cream that is kind of a combination of ice cream and sherbert. They hollow out oranges, lemons and coconuts and fill them with the same flavor ice cream. It's then put in the freezer and turns into an amazing fruity treat.
I have to put in my two cents and say that the best icecream is sold on Oahu, at the Dole Pinapple factory. Nothing tops this icecream. It is that fresh melt in your mouth goodness that everyone craves. I get it every time I visit Oahu, check it out!!
Ye Old Mill...here in ohio.
they even have a gift shop, pond, factory, senic tours and operating mill wheel right on the spot. so you get a tasty treat, gift, ducks chasing you and nice horse and buggy ride after you tour the factory. it's the most romantic date i've ever been on.
The best ice cream I have ever had came from Reid's Dairy in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
The entire factory, including the cows are right there, so everything is fresh. They sell milk in glass bottles and even deliver it to area homes.
I used to sell the best ice cream, in Devon (I ate enough of it, so I should know!). It was great working on the seafront
I also sold the worst ice cream - I'd never get the 'soft serve' kind myself now after having had to mix it.
Italy gets my vote as the gelato capital of the world.
GROM in Florence for "Amarena" - black cherry
BAR LA STAZIONE in Bibbiena (Tuscany) for "Cioccolato e Peperoncino" - dark chocolate & chilli. Yummm!
Seek out any gelateria making their own ice cream on the premises using fresh ingredients & you will not be disappointed.
I agree with the OP that Italian gelato is my favorite type of ice cream~
CADWALDERS in wales !!! I have to say they are amazing. I even considered a move out there for the summer as they are so fab and when I was pregnant I craved it so much !
Would have to say Italy.Nearly everyone how sells good ice cream in Scotland is Italian.
The best ice cream I have ever had is from the Penn State Creamery - They raise the cows on campus, milk them and then create the ice cream right on campus - AMAZINGLY GOOD.

Havmore ice crème is a delicious ice crème in the world.
The taste of havmore American nuts ice creams gives a wonderful taste and it is mixed with the nuts and jellies which makes it more remarkable. For me the world best ice creame is Havmore American Nuts.
Mackies ice cream in Scotland is pretty damn good and so is Cream O Galloway! Plus I can see the cows everyday
The best ice cream I ever had was from an ice cream parlour in Salou, just south of Barcelona in Spain. Right on the sea front. It was amazing. Aahhhhhh whistful sigh, remebering life before kids. Now my ice cream eating is totally confined to my garden, I agree Mackies is yummy.
so far for me,having travelled the world -the icecream in Germany and Spain is the best

If you were only allowed ONE flavor of ice cream for the rest of your life, which would it be?Imagine that you have to choose one flavor of ice cream now, and you can never change that choice. Would it be plain old vanilla, cheeky choccy chip or something exotic?
