Do you ever crave vegetables?
I totally dislike Veganism - I find it full of hypocrisy.
But whatever - I sometimes get some truly intense cravings for certain vegetables, and I always greatly enjoy fulfilling those urges.
Mostly....I have been craving greens: Mustard greens, turnip greens, collard greens, etc.
Do you ever crave specific vegetables? If so, what are they?
I LOVE veggies! and if I don't have them regularly, I start craving them. I usually have V8 juice in my fridge, so for a quick fix, I'll drink some of that. Sometimes spinach satisfies the craving. The iron in it, perhaps? I also crave loaded garden salads. I have to have tomatoes every day or so. Even in the winter, I have to have tomatoes, so I buy the most unripe ones I can find and set them in the window sill to ripen better and have better flavor. Sometimes I crave broccoli. Go figure....
I crave spinach regularly. Iron deficiency?
I also have a need for tomatoes every now and again, which is why I value canning so much!
I like certain vegetables a lot. At times, I crave for potatoes, corn, spinach, mushrooms, cucumbers and tomatoes. I like them in salads or healthy dishes.
In the fall I frequently find myself craving orange veggies - pumpkin, butternut squash, carrots. In the spring I find I crave green veggies like spinach, romaine letuce, broccoli.
I like most all veggie's and have one every night with dinner but I will always be an animal eater. I do especially like all the greens you mentioned (mustard's are the best). A friend of mine on F.B. turned me on to a diet I've been on for a long time but didn't know it, vagitarian :-P Hahahaha!!! I've been waiting to use that for days!!
I love all kinds of veggies but will actually crave spinach and collard greens. If I've gone a couple of days without a fresh salad, I begin to crave that too. and I adore cold radishes with a sprinkle of salt, to me they're incredibly refreshing!! I might as well keep going.....lol. Is there anything more delicious than a sun-warmed tomato picked right off the vine??? so sweet and succulent
I have vegetables every day. I crave Spaghetti Squash, or salad.
Cabbage. I wonder what happens but until I eat cabbage whether I am full or not I just must have cabbage (The green Cabbage)
We always have veggies with all are meals, so I haven't been in that situation to say that i am craving them. But I do crave CHOCOLATE, if that can count as veggie
I've actually never experienced that craving, but I often find myself craving soup, which is all about vegetables, so I don't know if the reasons are the same. Anyway, usually when we crave some sort of food is because we are missing the nutrients that that particular food product has, that's the way our body has of telling us what we need. That's also an explanation for the cravings on pregnant women. Craving for vegetables is similar to any craving. I many times crave for lettuce, corn and cucumber.
Of course I do. I'm addicted to spinach from my early childhood on. It's only about the taste, though, no superpowers granted..
My craving changes with the season, I can't abide this constant supply of out of season vegetables! At the moment it's tender stemmed broccoli almost every day. I'm already looking forward to the first asparagus of the season though it will be a couple of months yet!
Got to have tomatoes nearly every day but haven't had a really tasty one for more years than I care to remember - many years ago a greengrocer friend told me the best way of picking a tasty tomato was to smell it, if it smelled of cat pee it would taste really good.They did! Mostly I make do with canned tomatoes.
For the few weeks they are in season, curly Kale and sprouting broccoli.
Potatoes I love but they hate me, I have a reaction to one of the toxins in them which results in instant projectile vomiting! I don't eat potatoes very often you'll be pleased to know, usually roast or chips are fairly safe, but not always.
Oh, I'm a veggie by the way. Just thought I'd mention it.
even though I am a die hard meat lover, there are times when I crave veggies. I just love okra. Okra fry, okra curry are just my favorite.
Yes, I do actually crave veggies a lot of the time. Mostly I want spinach, which I steam, put some butter and lemon....and love eating it!! Broccoli, asparagus, these are others I crave a lot. Oh yeah, and black beans....on a corn tortilla with tomatoes and melted cheddar cheese!! This may sound funny....but I love veggies more than any sweets, they're so delicious, healthy, and when I start running out of them, I run to the store to get more. It's the same way for me with fruit, I can't go without that either, and I crave it too.
Yes, I do I crave freshly steamed and seasoned asparagus! Mmmm my favorite!
I find since I was about 35 (I'm 37 now), I have almost ridiculous cravings for vegetables every day. I eat meat too, but I fill my husband's and my plates with big servings of sauteed veggies, roasted veggies, or salads every single day.
I don't know if the cravings have to do with getting older and my body telling me I need more nutrition or what, but I drool over photos of veggie recipes I want to make. When I cook them I put the food on a large serving platter in the middle of the dining table, so we can savor all the beautiful colors of the veggies before we attack them.
My cravings lately are for sweet potatoes. In general I am big on mushrooms, spinach, red bell peppers, red potatoes, Brussels sprouts, parsnips, pumpkin, sugar snap peas, you name it!
since last month, our family has been craving for bittergourd! Read from newspaper that bittergourd helps to get rid of toxins in our body. So i went hunting for recipes and started to but bittergourd. Now, we are hooked to this bitter vegetable.
I do and the greener the better. I don't eat meat, but that doesn't mean I eat all veggies either. My body knows what it needs and lets me know.
I'm always craving cruciferous vegetables like kale, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, or Brussels sprouts. I wondered for a long time why I'm drawn to these particular veggies so consistently; now I think it may be the potassium, since I dehydrate easily. But who knows? They're also high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and folic acid. I figure, my body knows best.
I love eating an array of vegetables in balance. My favourite is cauliflower and mushrooms.Also fond of butternut. Love baking it in the oven with a little brown sugar and cinnamon sprinkled over it.
