What's The Best Way To Cook A Steak So It Is Not Tough?

Are there any special ways to cook a steak so it is more tender?

Preheat your oven with the broiler turned on on it's highest setting.  meanwhile heat a cast iron pan on high on the stovetop. season the steak with salt and pepper lightly. sear 2 minutes per side then place the pan in the oven and cook for another 6 minutes for medium rare, 8 for medium 10 for medium well, etc. that is pretty much the way a steakhouse does it but they have much more expensive broilers.

First of all the tenderness of a steak depends on the quality of the meat. So if you buy a cheap cut it will probably be tough. Sirloin & Striploin usually work well. Make sure your frying pan is medium to hot, before putting the meat in. Try 5 minutes on either side tepending on thickness. A steak should never be cooked well-done as otherwise it will be tough.
