What's the best recipe for Fluffy buttermilk biscuits?
I use a recipe with lots of baking powder. The biscuits always rise and are nice and fluffy. You'll need 2 cups of unbleached flour, 1 Tablespoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, 1 Tablespoon white sugar, 1/3 cup butter or shortening, 1 cup buttermilk. Combine dry ingredients. Cut butter or shortening in until the size of small peas. Add buttermilk and stir until combined. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead a few times. Pat into a circle and cut out with a 1/2 cup measuring cup. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake in 425 F oven until golden brown, abot 15-20 minutes. Enjoy!
