What are some good four or five ingredient slow cooker recipes you assemble at one time?

So many recipes require adding ingredients in stages.  I am looking for something I can throw together at once and have ready when I get home from work.

Well, I have a Hub on this - I think it's on Best Gadgets for the Kitchen, the pressure cooker - something like that LOL.

In a nutshell, you need to soak your beans, peas, lentils overnight to let them "drink" water which makes them easier to cook.  They are hard as rocks and need softening before cooking.  After draining the water, add a hunk of dried meat with bones (beef ribs, ham hocks, etc.) a peeled onion, carrot, 4 cloves of garlic, tomato paste, a little salt and pepper and celery tops to add a big boost of flavor.  Fasten the lid securely and let it cook.  Be sure to lower the temperature once the mixture starts a-bubbling, so that the beans soften to perfection over a nice slow cook (the food seem to tastes better if it's  not "rushed").

    Here's a killer pot roast:

Cut up a couple of carrots, a couple yellow onions, and 3 or 4 potatoes

Place a 3-5 pound chuck roast in the crockpot

Tuck the veggies in around it

Sprinkle one package dry onion soup mix on the meat

Spread one can cream of mushroom soup over that

Pour half a soup can of water around the edge over the vegetables

Cook on low 12 hours or high 6 hours

This makes wonderful gravy that you can reheat with the leftover roast and pour over mashed potatoes. Not diet food, but hey, man does not live by rice cakes alone!
