    What is this?

When I first saw this food item from the corner of my eye, I thought it might be chickens that were upside down with their legs tied together. However I quickly learned differently. What do you think this food is? I'm sure there's someone out there on the hub pages that knows their way around a kitchen.

It's a pod person from Invasion of the Body Snatchers. What did I win?

Seriously, there are a lot of recipes like Chicken in a Purse or Pouch. It could be anything in there but it almost looks like seaweed closing the thing up.

Maybe some type of leaf, like with Mexican food, a tomale leaf?

It looks like some kind of wonton to me, with nori wrapping (the black part)

I would have to say cheese. I have a friend who makes cheese, and she wraps it.

They look like one of those edible flowers, like hybiscus blossoms, that are tied up with a tie-wrap to help keep them from getting bruised or becoming wilted.

Is it filo pastry with some type of filling, tied up to stop the filling spilling out/look interesting?   I know I've seen these before somewhere!
