Tech Question regarding RSS feeds & tags

   Hi guys,
   
   I think i've found a neat little trick to generate very large numbers of backlinks in a very short space of time. I've searched thoroughly through all of the hubs and forums here, and it's something I don't think anyone has hit on yet. There's no references to it.
   
   But it depends on finding an answer to this question:
   
   How quickly does the hubpages rss feed for a specific tag "populate" results after the creation of a new tag? Especially if that new tag has no other hubs tied to it?
   
   How many hubs would a new, unique tag need to have its rss feed "populated" rapidly?
   
   Please note I do not mean categories, but tags. 
   
   Some of you may see where i'm going with this...
   
   But if anyone knows the answer to the question above it will greatly help - all of us potentially!
   
   I will be sure to share in detail the trick with everyone once i've confirmed it works. It works in principle, i'm just ironing out the kinks.

   I mean no disrespect, but you could have posted to the Knowledge exchange forum that deals specifically with tags and categories. I have reported it and requested to have it moved there, I think this may give better feedback.

   When we were putting together the Hubtrail project iy took about 2 hours for the feeds to update.

      So it seems the feeds update quite quickly. Which is good.
      
      I'm having trouble figuring out why the rss feed for some tags is updated and available, and not for others.
      
      I figred that the age of a hub might be something to do with it. But i've seen relatively obscure tag feeds updated after a short period of time. 
      
      So then I figured it might be to do with the number of hubs attributed to a tag. But then I found an obscure tag with a single hub attached to it - which had its rss feed for that tag operating.
      
      So something seems to be dictating the speed at which a new, unique tag has its rss feed enabled - just can't figure out what that factor is.

   If your making rss feeds out of tags and submitting them to sites (yup we hit upon that) then yes you can, but it does take between 2hours+ to do it. Normally I wait a day then do anything with the tag, there should be a feed by then.

      Thanks mate - just as you wrote that my own little experiment which I was running simultaneously with this forum question confirmed exactly what you and Ohma have said.
      
      Thought it seemed too good that i'd be the first one to think of it lol.
      
      I'm using *unique* tags grouped around single hubs and/or entire clusters of hubs on a single topic.
      
      It's crazy. Using it with RSS Submit or something I can generate almost offensive levels of backlinks with very little effort.
      
      Any experience on how valuable those backlinks have been?

         What effects you are seeing from submitting these feeds? Increased rankings? More traffic to your hub?
         Are the effects measurable?

   Well there mostly PR 0 Links, and drive almost zero traffic but do help. Most of my pages are pagerank 1-3 which is good. I didnt really do much at all but you can google search:
   
   Going to the park
   What is Kontera
   White Rice Recipe Ideas
   Adult Anime Figures
   Sega Ema
   
   See if any Hubpages url are on the front page.

      Nice work.
      
      All of those were on page one, and most of them were above the fold with a couple in position one. There was some reasonable competition in there too.
      
      I checked the traffic on the terms too - just cos i'm nosey lol - they must be doing well:-) 
      
      Very encouraging! Yes I figured they'd drive virtually zero traffic themselves - I just want them for the google ranking.

   There is one problem, however, many of the tags are broken because there is a bug in the system.  It was Edweirdo who found it out and reported it.  It is 2 plus months on and the bug still isnt sorted out, so you will have to wait, like the rest of us.
