Will updating Hubs potentialy increase traffic or get you on earlier pages of google? Also, do any of you do research of key words before writing a hub?
Updating your hubs keeps them fresh, which Google tends to enjoy.
As for researching keywords, try to write less for keywords and more for information-rich passages. Keyword stuffing is just ugly. Doing your research as far as making sure your information is correct is always a good thing. ![]()
So it's not a big deal if there aren't many key words for google so you get recognized? And adding or editing a hub that was done a year ago can attract new traffic?
Yes, you need your key words to be repeated often enough for Google to recognize what your Hub's about. However, there is a thing called "keyword stuffing" - if you repeat your keywords too often, Google thinks you're trying to con it, and will actually rate you down. There are lots of guesses around the internet on what percentage constitutes keyword stuffing. I've seen people suggest that each keyword should be less than 5% of the total number of words - which seems low, but who knows?
Google likes content that is fresh and up to date. If you include News capsules, eBay capsules and RSS feeds in your Hubs - all of which update all by themselves - Google counts that as updating, so doing updates yourself won't make that much difference. Having said that, I do often go back and update my Hubs - not because the updating is beneficial in itself, but because I've learned something new about the topic, or about how to improve the Hub.
If it's well written, the keywords that people will naturally search for should already be present - at least if you're thorough on the topic.
And yes, updating the hub, revising parts that may not be pertinent, or even proofreading with a fresher eye can help revitalize your hub and get it noticed more. ![]()

I have spent time reading all of the other forum posts regarding a decrease in traffic so I know I am not alone but even though I have read and read them I still do not understand what is going on.Quite a few of my hubs were on page 1 of google for my keywords. This then brought with it the...

I saw a dramatic traffic drop today and went to notice that over 100 of my hubs are not featured. While I can understand some of my older ones published over 4 years ago were not that great, some of them were published just months ago and are engaging, have beautiful pictures and very few links....

I read that we should not repeat the keywords contained our hub url in the capsule titles within our article. Hence, if I am writing an article called (how to make a meat pie) and I have 30 capsules about the procedure; must I ensure that all of those capsules must not contain the words "meat...

It's just come up in the wake of one Hub author's entire account being moderated that the Hub summaries don't actually ever get seen by people hopping Hubs or reading them as they appear when published like when some asks for help in the forums. This person's account was moderated for...

I have two hubs up so far. I am not entirely sure what a great ranking would be considering that they are quite new, but they are both above 60. Is this pretty good for newly established hubs? I would appreciate any feedback on my work and what can be done to improve for the future, as well as...

The first occurred on 4/19. That hub's traffic has already started its crash and burn. The second occurred on 4/21. I'm reasonably certain the traffic crash and burn is starting there as well.I'll give it a week. If things aren't back to normal by then, I'm putting the keywords back. Better to have...
