      This topic has been researched by many people on both sides of the debate. Like many paranormal beliefs, this one is still unsolved. I personally do not believe in past life regression because I don't believe in reincarnation. I do, however, believe in psychic connections and imprinting. I also believe in genetic memory. I have studied these at length, and my conclusions are based on a lot of supporting evidence.
      
      Most of the information we have on past lives is unprovable, in that the subject recanting a past life cannot provide any verifiable information. Therefore, the recollection could be nothing more than a dream modified by the idea of a past life regression. Our minds are capable of very elaborate creations of fantasy. Just look no further than the fiction section of the book store. It is no easy thing for us to dream up a fantasy past life under hypnosis, which is much like a dream sleep. Also, any number of sources of information could be locked in the subject's subconscience just waiting to be recalled into some story which is believed to be a past life.
      
      As for genetic memory, there is some evidence that life experience information can be transmitted through the genes from parents to children. As incredible as that sounds, research is being done to find proof of this. My other suspicion is that the genetic code within our cells can act like the code on a cell phone. If our code is right, we can receive information stored in the ether. In other words, we can dial up the past, and find out what someone was doing or thinking back then. By ether,  I mean the quantum level molecular agents in our universe that store all types of information just like the hard drives in our computers. this is how ghosts imprints are explained. The ghosts images are recorded in the environment at some quantum level we don't yet understand.
      
      Did we exist in another life? I don't think so. Can we connect with other people in the past? Evidence suggests we can.

      I believe in it totally. I am not going by just book smarts alone, or else I wouldn't probably agree...depending on how much education I have had, or not, and on what level, and subjects studied etc.
      
      I do not base my life on books that I read, but on real life experiences' and spiritual knowledge gained. I recall past lives I have had and it has helped me understand "me" better, and those in my life.
      
      It doesn't matter to me if someone comes along that has been programed in the public school systems [all their life] to believe this or that.
      
      If we only refer to what is in mainstream popularity at any given time in Earth's history. And thereby, decide that is the way and the only way than we miss out on a lot. Step out of the box. Don't go by what is written alone as the only evidence proving or disproving something. And decide not to take people's word for what they have personally experienced or what they haven't personally experienced!
      
      I know first hand reincarnation is real. Just because it cannot be proven by science doesn't mean nothing to me. It just shows the underdevelopment of the spiritual self.
      
      Why do people decide they know it all because of a limited time of schooling. One can go to school their whole life and they realize the more they learn the more they don't know!!
      
      There's nothing worse than someone coming along and stating this is the way it is and nothing else is right because science hasn't proven it. [That is annoying to me!] And it is a left brainier way. We need to use both sides of our brain more often, instead of only one side! Balance is needed!
      
      The thing is about mystical phenomena, the paranormal, and spiritual knowledge is simple as: don't care what others think, or say. We are a war planet, that says a lot in itself!!
      
      The best thing to do is go with your gut feeling on the matter. Don't throw out the baby with the bath water just because it is a popular thing to do in that time era.
      
      We are spirit beings having a human experience. We are only here for a short time in this particular lifetime learning for spiritual growth. We are here to make a difference as best as we can.
      
      I know from the core of my being, (my opinion) we choose to incarnate at any given time if we want to for varies reasons. We are way more than the limitations we live housed in our shell body's. We are here to learn and to spiritually grow. I have learned my way of knowing by being in touch with my soul self since I was a child. The soul lives on and will continue to  experience new things beyond this lifetime we each have.
      
      Don't let anyone hold you back. Although if you can take what you can use and leave the rest, even with the book smart geniuses what they say -- you will be more knowledgeable for it. Just remember, they don't understand the spiritual self or else they would be totally aware of it.
      
      I have walked out of my body and have journeyed to heaven, etc., since I was five years old! I'm not going to let someone tell me that isn't real because I can't prove it!! LOL.

   Yes, I believe in reincarnation. I also believe that our Spirit Guides are nothing more than layers of our soul that are living parallel lives at the same time as ours. We think of them as past lives because we think of time as being linear, but in reality they are occurring at the same time. Because we are connected we tend to recognize each other as part of our ethereal self.
