Hey community! If I started up a HubPages Chat do you think you guys would start using it? It gets rather boring writing and being by yourself all the time and itd be nice to get to talk to some other hubbers and maybe even get some ideas from each other!.

    Anybody interested?

This has been asked and answered in the past. It wasn't a good idea then and certainly is not a good idea now.

One other hubber opens a chat, so others could take advantage and it didn't work out well.

HubPages is NOT a social networking site. It's not a blogging site either. It's also not a social bookmarking site neither.

HubPages is writing platform with a forum community for built-in assistance. Your writing should be article size(magazine length).

The "professional" nature you need to write and succeed in making money is to have the right attitude. HubPages is a business, first and foremost.

The forum software for posting and format, allows any number of people to carry on any number of conversations. I have carried on occasion, 3-5 different conversations at one time. It would be no different than that of a chat.

If the forums are for built in assistance then why are there topics such as religion, politics, even cooking and pets. These are not topics for assistance in hubpages, they are just neutral topics.

A chatroom would be a neat thing to have, and just like the forums you don't have to participate if so desire.

It's nice to have a place to chat - so we aren't highjacking somebody else's discussion.  I am seeing so many "god" and "religion" threads I'm hardly bothering to come to the forums anymore.  I think its a great idea to chat, just not about religion or politics.  Some threads are picked up and recycled over and over because we do like to touch bases with each other for short comments.  See how people we "know" on HP are doing and share fun as well as serious things.  I think Cagsil participates in all sorts of threads on HP so I don't know why he's trying to detract from a chat thread - Let's have a chat thread, by all means, and it's a free forum site, so it doesn't matter how many other chat threads there have been in the past!

So, that said, I want to tell you I'm fine, but my daughter just moved a thousand miles away and now my best friends are planning to move who knows how far away in another month or so.  So I am re-examining what I'm doing and wondering what I will do with these important people in my life gone.   ??  suggestions are welcome.

Miami!?!  Sounds good, never been there, but since I have to stay here and work, I can't really come there.  Maybe someday - thanks for the suggestion.  So I need to find ways to make some friends, get involved with something here where I live in Sonoma County CA - and remember, I am incredibly lazy!

I took it as setting up a way to chat, other than the forums threads. Nothing else.

I'm not trying to take away from a chat thread, just the social kind of chat software, like social sites.

That's been addressed by my statement.
