Picture uploader

I'm having some problems with the picture uploader. I can upload new pictures to the 'my pictures' section of the capsule, but nothing will put the picture within the editing space where I can adjust its size and caption (and therefore, it does not appear on the hub). Am I doing something wrong with this new interface or has someone else experienced this?

I believe the functions are separate. First you upload, then the most recently added images should be available once you go and edit a hub. If you only want to add a few images, you may do so from within editing mode rather than using the uploader, use whatever method is most convenient.

I can see them in the capsule when I click on edit and when I click on them, they disappear from the left hand menu with a message that says 'added'. However on the right hand side where it says "Images will be displayed in the order below; drag-and-drop to change the order. " there is nothing but white space no matter how many times I close it and try to add the images again.

Can you tell me what browser and operating system you are using? I haven't seen this problem before.

The OS I'm on right now is Windows XP and I'm using the firefox browser. I'm going to give it a shot in IE and report back.

I understand, at upon re-reading your OP I can see that was what you said. This may be a temporary glitch, these things are not uncommon. Maybe trying later or with a different browser is worthwhile. In any event, it is good you posted it here.

Tried it with Internet Explorer and didn't have any better luck. I also updated flash player and that didn't help. For now I may just have to wait to see if the issue resolves itself.

I was able to get the pictures to work on my home computer (vista and firefox). I'm not sure what the cause was but hopefully it's resolved now.

I am experiencing the same problem as M.T. Dremer, unable to activate already uploaded images in spite of using Firefox, Opera, IE, and Chrome on many attempts over the past 12 hours. Currently using Vista.

After the last incident I went home and tried to add the pictures on my home computer. It worked there while running windows vista and firefox. However I'm back using my work computer today (Nov. 13) and I'm experiencing the same problem again. I want to say that the problem is related to a plug-in for the computer/browser, but so far I haven't been able to figure out what that might be. If Website Examiner is experiencing the same problem, I hope HubPages is aware of it.

Thank you for reporting back so diligently. I don't have access to Windows XP right now, but when I'm back in the office on Monday I will be sure to look into it and see if I can reproduce the problem. Sorry that it has taken me this long to get to it.

Update: I did some more testing, and asked Larry to test the photo capsule on his Windows XP as well. So far, we can't reproduce the problem, but I'll keep trying.

If it is of any use, I am still seeing no progress - working on Vista. Thanks to the Team for helping with the matter. A few screenshots may help illustrate the problem:

The left column says "added," but the image does not appear in the right column.

Yes, I see what you mean. But this doesn't happen for me in any browser that I've tried, which makes the problem hard to track down. Nevertheless, I've made a small change to some code that *might* fix the problem. I will let you know as soon as the change is live on the HubPages site, and ask you to report back to me on whether my change did indeed fix the problem.

Thanks once again for going to such lengths to help me out with this.

I have not had any problems since yesterday; neither on XP nor on Vista (the original configuration), regardless of browsers used (e.g. Chrome, Opera). However, I should add that I have been posting from a different location/IP address than when I experienced the difficulties. Let us hope the code change will solve the problem, which seemed to affect only a few users. Thanks Fawntia, it has been interesting.
