Sarah Palin's Alaska

   Ok, so I couldn't resist tuning in to tonight's premier.
   Honestly, if Sarah Palin thinks that this reality show is going to HELP her credibility or her popularity, she really is dumb.
   
   In the minutes I saw:
   1. She allows her young daughter Piper to call her "Sarah" and even comments on the fact that this is the only way Piper can get her attention. (it's quite fresh and if Piper were my kid and called me by my first name with the tone she did...unh uh).
   2. Piper is likely to come up with the "out of the mouths of babes" -- unscripted comment that will sink her mom's "non-campaign" once and for all. Tonight she told the world her mother is "addicted to her Blackberry" and is basically an emotionally neglectful mother.
   3. Sarah's teen daughter Willow goes upstairs in a huff. She has a boy over but he stays downstairs. Sarah calls up to Willow from the bottom of the baby-gated stairs demanding that she come back down. She comments that the gate is not just for little Tripp. It's to keep BOYS FROM GOING UPSTAIRS!!
   Gee, Sarah, isn't this like locking the barn door after the horse has escaped? Obviously the baby/boy gate was not there when Bristol was dating Levi Johnston.
   4. We get to see the Palin family on various outdoor adventures. It is patently obvious that Sarah Palin has NEVER FISHED BEFORE!!! They want to give the impression that these activities are part of their lifestyle, but you can tell by what Sarah says and does that this is all new -- just for the cameras.
   5. I really loved her line regarding the 14' fence Todd erected atop their existing fence to keep a prying journalist who moved in next door out. Sarah suggests that such a fence would be a great solution to secure America's borders.
   Gee, if we'd known all it took was a little extra lumber, we might have done that years ago, Sarah! But thanks for the tip. We'll be sure to pass it on to the National Border Patrol.
   
   I can't hardly wait for the next installment.
   BTW, for those who think Sarah's best feature is her legs, you get to see plenty of them as she walks around in shorts. A lot.

      I'm not one bit interested in Palin's show or legs, but that's my personal preference. To help her gain better popularity or gain credibilty, she'll need a lot more than a TV show. She needs to find a brain and know how to use it properly. But she's in her own world and I believe her political career fizzled out a long time ago. No one would take her serious for any public offic unless it's in some hick town in Alaska.

      I agree with all except #4 - I've seen videos of Sarah and Todd fishing and CATCHING fish! I thought the scenery was awesome, and I have to say, she's braver than I am. That rock-climbing is something I would never have attempted, even when I was fit. All in all, I thought the show was okay - not great. It certainly didn't help convince me to support Palin for prez. I don't know if I'll watch more of the series or not. The halibut fishing show, however, is something I might be interested in!
      
      I'm hoping Palin did the show for the money and not for the political exposure!

      But still very real, very normal, much better than Obama's reaking havoc on America because of his dreams from his father.

   While I did not watch the show, I recall the statement Palin makes, about how she would much rather be out in nature..in "her" Alaska, and not be stuck in some political office.....
   
   Somehow I am unconvinced.. Palin's own words come back to hit her in the face.....yet she, and a good portion of this nation's populace, still somehow take her seriously....

   We had to cancel our Bible study group because so many members wanted to stay home and watch. (video recording devices are an abomination to the truly righteous).

      Wow. Just wow. She has really got her flock of sheep under complete control. This show will only expose her for being a slave to publicity. Even her friends have said she's not nearly as "outdoorsy" as she likes people to believe, and people are going to see from this show how her neglectful style of parenting leads to unwanted consequences, such as her unwed teenage daughter having a baby.

   I've been schooled against my tendency toward "contempt prior to investigation."
   So I watched the first night's show.
   Now I can honestly claim contempt AFTER investigation!
   
   I read she was asking $1.5 million per episode. Aw shucks. She's just a down-home Alaska mama grizzly/barracuda!

   Poor Sarah. According to her, she leads a boring, average American life. Right. How many of us have a living room large enough to play basketball in - literally? How many of us live right on the water? How many of us take a plane taxi and then a fishing guide to fish for salmon on a regular basis? Or take a plane taxi to climb a mountain? Or regularly do all the other things she'll be doing on her show? Oh, and get paid WELL for having all this fun?
   
   I don't begrudge anyone's enjoying life, but for her to say that her life is boring and mundane is certainly a bit of a s-t-r-e-t-c-h!

   I didn't watch it (and really don't care, either way), but I heard that Alaska was the real star of the show.  The show really displays Alaska's beauty and will hopefully encourage tourism up there.
