This scenario is unlikely to change with Republicans in control of the House. EVERYONE has some sort of SPECIAL INTEREST. However, this is what catapulted the GOP into power
One common occurrence in elections is that the economy is one of the biggest factors in determining how people vote. If the economy is doing well, there's a tendency to re-elect the incumbent party. If not, then there's a tendency towards change.
I wish I had a link to articles about that tendency, but I don't at the moment. It's something I have heard in years past, and it seems to hold true.
So, if a political party really wants to maintain power, it is in their best interest to take care of and improve the economy - according to this hearsay.
I know we are, and according to almost every standard measure, we are extremely representative of the median families in America.
My husband has been out of work for two years, and has been taking temporary jobs whenever possible, relying on unemployment when the jobs end.
A couple of years ago we were hoping to trade in our condo soon for a house because I had just gotten pregnant with our 2nd child and we only have 2 bedrooms. So much for that plan!
I consider losing my last job at a time when finding a new one was impossible the best thing that ever happened to me. It is true that I still have a long ways to go to replace my income however.
But my husband became self-employed about four or five years ago now.. Four or five....? Jeepers time flies. Anyways, overall, we're def better off than we were two years ago.
I'm way better off than 2 years ago. No complaints here.
