I am using an all-in-one adsense plugin for wordpress. What is generally considered the best adsense setup for wordpress? (ad sizes, ad placement, colors maybe)
From what I have heard, some ad placements get better CTR and etc. I also heard that smaller ads have higher PPC.(not sure if thats true)
Thanks...
I suggest you do some research rather than getting handed all the information. You will find better results to your questions David 470
Try using Google search box at google.com hope this helps
Okay, a quick run down on ad placement (Some of this may not work with an adsense plugin, you will need to grab the google code and insert it yourself)
Ad placement can have an effect on earnings per click, since advertisers can search for advertisements on a specific website. If you offer different advertising channels for different areas on a page, or even different areas on a site, people can bid more for an exclusive spot. You need to makes sure your Adsense plugins accept the latest google code for this though!
(You also probably wont see any benefit until a site becomes really poplar either!)
Ad placement definitely has an effect on your click through rate as well.
For instance a large square advertising box in text generally does pretty well, so does a medium banner below an article. Side bars are another good spot to have advertisements, but they don't really do as well as 'in-content' ad spots.
The best thing to do is either
a) Use yieldbuild and let them do it all for you
or
b) Just keep changing out your ad scheme every few weeks and try and narrow down what works best for your site (Every site is different)
Currently, I have it setup to left. I also have the ability to make it random even though I don't know if that would be a good idea or not. Sometimes the ads will make the words disorganized when using top left.
I found this page, but do not know how accurate or true this is. It says top left will have a click through ratio of 3%-25%, but that sounds extremely high.
Ad placements and color depends on your theme but for starters you can follow Hubpages ad placements. Colors ? choose the colors similar to title of post and post text. Suggested ad size - 300x250 and 468x60.
25% sounds very high, suspiciously high, infact if you are getting 25% ctr on your ads then I would be concerned that these ads are using black hat means to get visitors to click. Content merging etc.
You should be able to get a CTR of 3%-7% depending on your content though.
I take the left too on a lot of my sites, I don't think it matters too much if it is on the right or left, it will still be in the same visual range. I have heard that the best way to do it is to put your ads on the opposite side of the page to your sidebars, so it stand out a little more ad it's own 'section'.
Is CTR higher on websites than it is on hubpages? Hubbers have said that hubpages average is 1-3% or something Also, will I receive 100% of adsense earnings?
Wordpress is pretty nifty. There's still probably a lot of things I do not know yet. I see that there is a TON of plugins you can get though. Very versatile.

I got an email from Adsense saying this in one part of it:------------------------------------------------------------------"We're asking you to review your AdSense for Content units for placements that could result in accidental clicks. We recommend positioning ads at least 150 pixels away...

Ok, I'm pretty new here and I hope I don't say something that is not smart regarding this, but I really think that there should be an option to insert AdSense between any two capsules (is that what they're called?) and also to make it a bit bigger etc. Please, I'd like to hear some official comment...

As someone who doesnt mind getting a taste of ad revenue one day -whats up with the huge right column of unused ad space that would give returns on impressions! In truth, readers are already trained not to pay attention to such a space, so it wont take away from people reading my work - but the ads...
