Both were singers and gutarists for The Beatles but which one had the better solo career? John wrote about War, Love and Peace. Paul has had a longer solo career but has he made the same amount of classics as John did?

Personally I like John Lennons music over Pauls. I welcome everyones opnion.

I prefer JOhn. His post Beatle music is legendary and some of the best music he ever wrote.

Paul was in a different league, very good, but it didn't have the messege that JL gave in his music.

I've always been a huge Beatle fan and still listen to their music, especially John's. I think, looking in retrospect at his early death, his music is a lasting message to the world.

my son made an entire audience have tears in their eyes a few years ago when he performed Imagine for a cancer fundraiser at the hospital he works at. some scoff at his idealism, but the message is simple and so powerful.

George, actually. But, if it has to be between John and Paul, John wins, hands down.
My mother, however, does not agree.

Since John Lennon was murdered before I really knew who he was, I have to answer with Paul McCartney.  In fact, I only know of one song from JL - Imagine, but have many songs from PM in my head.

No contest. John and Paul together were an unbeatle songwriting team. Solo careers, I love the McCartney album. It's a classic. I love Ram. Can't stand Wings. And McCartney hasn't done anything since then that I like.
I like him and I am happy I got to see him.
But John -- totally different league (of his own).

Tough question.  51% Paul to 49% John.  Love George too.
