It really hurts that some people are so closed minded and hurtful when it comes to gays, lesbians, and transgenders. I am bisexual. I was born this way. Why is it so hard for people to accept? Am I not a good person because I like men and women? Why is it anyone's business anyway?

Those who really matter won't mind. Those who mind shouldn't really matter! I know that's easier said than done.

First off, your sexual preferences is nobody's business but your own - unless you advertise it.  The general population advertises a heterosexual preference and for whatever reason, (differences occur depending on the person) reject gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender preferences due to a lack of understanding.

Second - sexual preference has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not someone is a good person!  Now, if you're referring to morally right or wrong, that has yet to be discovered, I would think.

Why is it so hard for people to accept You, or the gay population?  For you, I can't tell you.  For the gay population, the answer is simple.  A lack of understanding - and I don't know if that can ever be corrected...

How could I, as a heterosexual female, ever possibly understand someone who is sexually attracted to someone of their own gender?  How could I possibly understand the reasoning behind someone choosing to reveal (to the world, not only immediate family/friends) their sexual preference (being gay/lesbian/transgender) knowing full well the response they can expect?  How could I be expected to understand that there are some people in this world who are born to go against biological nature?

Acceptance of diversity is different than understanding.  I can accept what I cannot understand.  It's called the beauty of life, and all humans are capable of it even if they are unaware of its existence.

I think Stina answered very well,  just be who you are, live well and don't worry about what others think or say. it's your life.

And, did you have stop to think that your sexuality is your business and not the business of other people?

When you put yourself out into public, and do so using what should be private to begin with, available, then you ask for what you get.

What you do sexually is no concern of mine. hmm

I do not ask to get ridiculed and talked down to. I don't go around telling every person I see that I am bi but when they do find out they sometimes freak out.

And yes, it is my business but I want to know why it is so horrible to certain people which is why I posted this forum. I would like someone to explain why it is so bad.

Apparently, you have a limited understanding of much. First off, you just made this post in this forum on the Internet of ALL places. Once something is on the NET it's out their forever. You opened this thread to talk about it, when it should be private? Or did you miss that in my post?
If you really want to get technical? Which I would rather not do, because it only boils down to procreation. Which requires man and woman.

That is how it has always been and you're asking 2/3 of the population of the world, to go against their own god?

As for me ridiculing you, that's not my intention, and I certainly would hope you don't see it that way. I just see absolutely NO need for sexuality to be society's problem.

Who you do isn't my concern.

        1. Zaiden Jace profile image62
Zaiden Jaceposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Well apparently it is you with the limited understanding because I am aware I have put this on the net. This was to get people's thoughts on the matter so I could get a better understanding and to try to see into some other people's head on this matter. My sexuality is a private matter but I am putting it out there so I can know why people are so bothered by us.

I am not asking anyone to go against their god but for most they believe that everyone should be treated easily and religion aside that is human decency.

And yes, I know you personally are not ridiculing me but other people do and not just me but to all of the other gays, lesbians, and transgenders out their. It is society's problem when they make it their problem. People have been driven to suicide and others have even been murdered because of their sexuality. I just want to know what drives people to have such hatred for us. It isn't just about sex as you can not control who you love. I am not trying to argue but I just want to get some answers.

This directly points to you not understanding yourself. If you better understood yourself, then you would know why? roll

And, I told you why. But, you're getting defensive for no reason. There was no hate in my words.
But you cannot put religion aside, until you deal with religion head on. So the only thing you're doing is helping to inflame the religious folk, who will sooner or later have something to say about it. As I said above. I have no religion nor a belief in a god. So, you have no problem with me. It's 2/3 of the population of the world who cannot put aside their supposed god's words, long enough to understand.
Equality for sexuality isn't a topic that can be challenged, until religion is done away with.
Majority rules? What more do you want? That is the rule you live under, if you live in America. Almost 80% of the population in America believe in god.
That is just ignorance gone awry. Suicide is a choice, no matter what, taking one's own life is a choice. Killing other people because of the sexuality just a pathetic arrogance of superiority taken to the extreme.
            See comments above.
Actually, I love everyone. So, actually you can control who you love, but it would best understand love first. I love myself, my family, friends and even strangers. I did that by loving myself first.
I can see that you want answers and I admire you spunk. I just wanted to let you know a few other things, if you are going to talk out in public about this particular topic. That's all. Enjoy.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.  He's been desperately trying to draw attention to himself all day.  Trying to let his (seemingly uninterested) hub-buddies know that he's sloped back in.  Following this ridiculous (and short-lived) drama: http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/59581 big_smile

well, sometimes prejudice is frusterating, and all you want to do is yell "what the F is their problem."

In short, people who dont feel the same way as you, feel they have room to judge you. Its complicated, but yet, its pretty simple.

              1. Cagsil profile image71
Cagsilposted 13 years agoin reply to this

Yes people do have a problem with judging, but it's natural. To not judge someone's actions, either as right or wrong, defeats any understanding of moral values.

It's unfortunate that there happens to be more people who think it's morally wrong than there are that think it is morally right.. I just wanted to make sure someone gets the gist, because religion is the first obstacle to overcoming the problem.

I'd like to know if I'm understanding you correctly, Cagsil.

Are you saying that its impossible to accept gay/lesbian/bisexual people and believe in God at the same time?  If so, I disagree.

Some people just have trouble accepting anyone that is different from them.  It is like this with sexuality, with race, with size, you name it!  Unfortunately this is how it is, has been and probably always will be.

I'm sure there is something about every single person in the world that at least one other person could see as a flaw.  I'm not saying it's right... it's just true.

As far as it not being anybody's business, well people tend to make it their business when they feel they have a right to ridicule someone.  Unless you walk around holding a big sign that says "I AM BI" then most people who see you probably wont even know unless you put it out there.  Imagine not being able to cover up your skin color or weight and having every single person who sees you potentially judging you on that.

You shouldn't have to hide who you are or be hurt by others ignorance and cruelty, and it is sad that you have been subjected to that.

I'm more concerned with why I can't sell one lousy product on Amazon even with my product Hubs ... like sensual massage oils and lotions ... which could tie in with this Hub if I really wanted it to.
